Face-Off was good but Con Air is my favorite, plus it had Dave Chapelle before the Chapelle Show

"The last Mohican is burning, man!" I always found that funny for some reason

Nic Cage Fun Fact: His son, Weston Cage, is in a metal band and posts ridiculous **** on facebook about being a viking warrior. Dude won't accept my friend request though. :(

^Grew up watching what are now guilty pleasures ....Armageddon, Con Air, Air Force One, Independence Day, Leon, Rumble in the Bronx, etc. Have a soft spot for those movies. In fact just the other day I watched Rumble in the Bronx and though it was a ******* comedy, first movie I had ever seen Jackie actually KISS a woman

You can't help but love the man. Oh, man. I so wished they'd gone through with the whole Superman thing. That would have been the most dog faced Superman eva!

I will always love Nic Cage in The Rock; it may have been my introduction to him, I don't remember any more.
For upcoming sci-fi, look up Looper (dir. Rian Johnson of Brick) -- it's coming out later this year, along with a prequel to a little property called Alien....

The set up to the "You're him." "Huh?" "The Rocket Man" bit is priceless.

Drive demonstrates all the damage that Antonioni, via Mann, has done to american crime movies. Bad lieutenant is semi-watchable but leaving las vegas is a must watch for anyone.

I think I agree on all counts although I'm ambivalent toward Drive, then again I like Mann and kinda enjoy his "hollowing out" operation, I find Miami Vice almost abstract.

Take Shelter is great. One of the best movies of last year.

In the meantime, you should also look for Nichols' previous film, [i[Shotgun Stories[/i]. While it's not as good, it's still well worth watching.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any (good) directors working exclusively in sci-fi at the moment. Nobody say Primer.

Can't wait to see Take Shelter, and yeah Shotgun Stories was pretty good.

Kinda related but I just found out that David Gordon Green directed The Sitter

What about Moon re: sci-fi ?

Ha, I was about to post the exact same thing, I'm pretty sure my fondness for Nic Cage mainly stems from The Rock and maybe a couple of other films I saw as a kid like Face Off, Con Air etc. The Rock is sacred though.

Anyone saw the original Wicker Man ? It's supposedly pretty good, I bought it a while ago but can't find the dvd anymore.

that **** is creepy. it has that 70s movie pacing which isn't for everyone but it has some odd and disturbing moments which are unsettling even now what 40 yrs later.

Oh man, I used to know most of The Rock dialogues by heart... SW&D feels like a big family right now

Who would have thought that it would be Nicholas Cage to unite us all.
