In terms of customer service Opening Ceremony is probably the biggest joke Iv ever encountered..It pains me sometimes I have to buy from them as they stock one of my favourite designers.

Thing is, college doesn't have a dress code. The absence of a dress code does not imply casual, it implies that you can wear what you want. But like I said, it's not the advice that's dumb, it's the reasoning behind it. Being well dressed by any standard (casual or non) will make someone stand out, and despite what many people say that is not social suicide. Too much advice on here is treating college like it's highschool as if everything depends on what you think everyone thinks of you, and that's just plain bullshit. Maybe I have some crazy idealistic view of college, but people are pretty open minded, non-judgemental, and down to meet new and interesting people. The bottom line is, if you look good, then other people will usually notice and respond positively (if they don't, then you probably don't look as good as you thought), but clothes don't ******* matter and you should be able to pick up a chick/make friends in jeans, a suit, or a Monsters Inc costume, etc. And yes, this rant was semi-sparked by this thread.

Yeah peeps would get called out for that here bigtime, the only guys that wear that stuff are queens, I find it ironic.

That is fine and well and I agree with the logic behind your posts, but I can recall maybe 5-10 times when it was appropriate to wear a suit in my 5.5 years in undergrad, and I wore a suit and tie to each one, and was still overdressed. I know some of you dus just really like suits, I like suits too, but amongst Americans there is almost a point where it being overdressed can make other people feel uncomfortable. I'm all for styling on people, anywhere, any time, but I try to dress appropriately for the occasion, and apart from weddings and funerals, I really have no need for a suit in my repertoire.

I was rejoicing this morning, the MMM 5-zip came back stronger than ever today, before it got hot again around 3.

Random thought:

Mens fashion peaked during the Regency era. Bring back breeches and top boots.

I swear almost all the kids in Taiwan had those when I was back there this summer, absolutely ridiculous.

This.

Maybe the occasional night out with my GF, but that probably it.

Looking forward to Bespoke when I'm older and suited most days but am enjoying my youth bigtime.

I am enjoying my youth as well, although I'm turning 28 soon... ****. If I have to 'dress up' I do it by pairing Jil and Raf tailored with some sort of white shirt and this sometimes black APC necktie I've had forever, Jil X Church's, or something like that. Before that I'd do some sort of Dior Homme thing or APC. It's been good enough for quite awhile, for going out or going to various workplaces where it's business casual, and I imagine I will probably do some form of that forever, although I might start folding in more bespoke stuff again and get more into shoes, but most dress shoes are too stuffy/dressy in an old man way or way overstyled Italian-style lasted fashion shoes, there aren't enough good shoes in the middle. It's a shame there are no more HL derbies. I like the Jil Sander Church's because I like austere chunky lasts with a good bit of sole, I think I might try some of the plainest double-sole C+J's, but I probably won't be that pleased with the last.

I had an office job awhile back, I was like 22 or 23 at the time, and wore suits and ties everyday, everyone else took their ties off by midday and sent their shoes to the shoeshiners all day and wore slippers in the office. There was no glamour in that, even though I dressed really well.

Man I have to wear a dress shirt and tie every day. The tie is mandatory whether or not there's a suit jacket. I don't like particularly like it, but it looks a lot better than when I'm lounging around in old Lad Musician shirts.

There are a lot of things better about teaching in Korea than Japan. It's the living part that makes the biggest difference
