How tall is this bed?

Does anyone own this (or some similar) Ikea bed (oooooh I know, Ikea... how gauche)? http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S89849971 If so, can you tell me how high up your mattress/boxspring is off the ground in this bed? There are dimensions on the Ikea site but not for how tall the legs + platform area are. BASICALLY: I am deciding if I'd need a box spring with this bed. My mattress is about 10" high and I just want to know how tall, sans box spring, a 10"-11' high mattress on top of this bed will be. THANKS!

I have the Malm bed (particle board) and it is not suited for box springs.... I think that's the case with most Ikea beds. The mattress store offered me a low profile 6" box springs but that would still be too much. Ikea stuff isn't too sturdy and is best viewed as a temporary solution.

If I remember correctly, Ikea uses roll-up wooden bars as a supporting platform rather than box springs. They're pretty rudimentary - multiple wooden bars stapled to two woven ropes on both sides. Like previously said, it is just a temporary solution. I've actually had an Ikea bed with the bars as a platform and they cracked on me in a year.

As an aside, both my roomie and myself use 2x4s, cut into slats, instead of a box spring. Not with IKEA beds, but same principle. Our stairs are too twisty to get box springs up. Mine came from Lowe's, was cheap, and they cut them for free.

I have heard this sentiment before that Ikea beds are not too sturdy. I understand tha veiw towards other Ikea furniture and products (ie. chairs, etc.). But I have had a Malm bed for close to 6 year and never had a problem with it. It is screwed and bolted together. I don't undertand what people are doing to the bed that it isn't sturdy. Unless you are doing backflips onto it it should hold up. At least that has been my experience.
