LOL, this is even funnier when you factor in that geek used to play online games like world of warcraft.
Regarding that Em diss, its pretty damn funny and clever on his part. But its also good publicity as I don't think his current album is doing so well.

He had a good flow, clever rhymes and I'm glad he left that weird voice he's been using lately alone. Too bad it's for a fucking Mariah Carey diss. Who the hell gives a shit about that? But then again, that could be said about most of Eminem's music. He is a great rapper whose music gets stale fast.

The last verse in Last Real N---a Alive killed Jay-z as well. Jay-z definitely lost that battle, but still one of the top 3 lyricists ever IMHO (but that's a discussion for another thread)

Someone tried telling me that same thing about Kanye West, he's barely in the top 3 rappers from Chicago. (West)

And Blog, Nas was relevant, he had back to back Source 5 mic albums when it still meant something. Jay-Z gets a lot of credit for being the one man who could get black people out of wearing throwback jerseys.

For me, Nas is what defines NYC rap... the best parts of it anyway. I like jigga but I feel like the man himself is a bit of a joke. I can't believe he'd do something a bit more mature like Kingdom Come (if for nothing else, a more mature materialism and differentiation from the rest of the hip hop on that front), and then go back to do bullshit like American Gangster.

Anyway, Kanye isn't in the top 3 rappers in Chicago. Maybe someone might say he's number 3 but lately I'd even rather listen to Twista.

Just to clarify I never said anything about who won or which diss was better.

I simply stated that I liked Takeover more and stated my beef with Ether was with the playground name calling. I thought both were good.

And what I meant by making Nas relevant again was that before Stillmatic and after It Was Written and Illmatic, how many people were really watching for new Nas tracks? The beef helped him revive his career and brought him wider attention.

just my .02 do with it as you please.

Yes Stillmatic brought him back into the fore, but people were quite interested in him after Illmatic, seeing as it was his first big release. Also keep in mind that 'relevance' in the way that you're talking about it really isn't relevant at all. That kind of relevance is by no means an indicator of quality. If we used who Jay Z talks about as the yardstick for relevance then there are a huge number of incredible artists that aren't 'relevant'. And again, there is a lot more to Ether than "playground name calling", and it isn't like Jay Z was Shakespeare in telling Nas he did you know what with you know who.

meh, kinda coincided with while his mum was dying so fair enough.

Also i kinda gather from Nas' lyrics that he feels he's already made enough money. He doesn't need to stay in the spotlight or anything like that.

the way i see it jay-z had been calling him out for ages, so he stood up.

i like this track. much better flow than his recent tracks.
