Thoughts on these Louis Vuitton shoes - Page 2

I'm somewhat disappointed that the python version doesn't have a python head at each toe, with the tongue forking out.

....they look nice. I'd never wear them to work; but they'd be cool for going out.

I've always hesitated to purchase "designer" shoes; always felt that the quality-per-dollar is so much lower than with established shoemakers. Thoughts?

The last isn't unattractive, but the print is. Besides, they are probably made in India.

I've had some very nice "designer" shoes of high quality over the years, Prada and LV in particular. However, because of their fashion-oriented styling, I would grow tired of them after a season or two. I've found that the more established makers have styles that are longer lasting, if not classic, and have more consistency in the level of quality throughout their brands. For this and other reasons, I'm no longer interested in the "designer" brands.

LV is better at spinning how cheaply some of their stuff is made/outsourced than Prada is.

Also, making people equate "made in Italy" with quality has been an amazing coup for the Italians.

Still, not repulsive.

I wouldn't buy it for the quality. I would buy it if I could pull it off, which I can't. Nor can anyone else who has posted in this threak (sorry emmanuel).

Would you want people tripping over those forked tongues all day long?! I can see it now...python wearers at a distance doing the LV Samba along the sidewalk. You are such a sadist.

Louis Vuitton... Made in India?

No. Not yet anyway. We know that Louis Vuitton currently has "workshops" in France, the USA, Spain, Italy & Germany... but I thought this was a fascinating article about the wonderful Indian leather company, Hidesign Leather.

Dilip Kapur, President of Hidesign talks about the painstaking process that goes into the hand treatment of their leather. Their methodology is admirable: expensive, but eco-friendly... and apparently I'm not the only one who thinks so. Dilip said in the article:

"That's what Louis Vuitton liked the most about us "” our craftsmanship and the skills of our workers"

Hmmm, interesting. I wonder why LVMH is evaluating his business?

Last year, I read the wonderful book, The World is Flat, by Thomas Friedman. It's clear that everyone else is taking advantage of the economical, plentiful, hardworking, but skilled labor pool in India... I guess, why not Louis Vuitton?

"I just threw up a little in my mouth" Are you a bird? Man it must be hard typing with your beak! Though I am sure you have a very nice coat! As for the make of Louis Vuitton shoes. I have a pair of sneakers I purchased from them roughly a year and half ago. They are made of canvas and leather. I have worn them many times, and the soles and the shoe itself still look new! Besides a little bit of dirt here and there (which is always cleaned off with a brush), they are in great shape! I have enjoyed wearing them, and love how they are built. I ordered them over the phone earlier. I asked LV how many total were still in the company. I was told in all sizes there are about 2 dozen. So obviously people ARE buying them. My taste in clothing and shoes is obviously very different from many people here. I enjoy things that are wild and extravagant. I always tell me wife that I will never buy a tie with just stripes! As for how I plan to wear these. They are only for special occasions. I have a family members wedding coming up soon. I bought a pair of Gucci's that everyone LOVED to go with a white Versace pinstripe suit, and these to go with a jet black Zegna suit. I have the perfect shirt and tie to match with them as well. AJ

any particular reason why you asked us for our thoughts if you already had your mind made up? just trying to expose sf to finer footwear, i suppose?

So you must never ask an opinion of something you purchased right?
