Fascination with that Entourage guy

I've never seen the show, okay shoot me, but it seems many people I know idolize this guy. And I've seen quite a few here who have avatars of him.

I youtubed some clips, and from what I saw briefly, this guy is a total dick.

So my question really is, why is he so popular? Because he's a greedy selfish prick (a la Douglas in Wall Street) or does this guy have interesting or redeeming qualities that I don't know about.

Not trying to start a flame war, I'm honestly curious. My guess is it's some sort of misplaced admiration for someone not really meant to be admired like Tony Montana or Gordon Gekko, do I have it pretty much right there?

Or is he a total prick, but at the same time human and funny, kind of like Arliss?

Because he's successful, funny, and a loyal friend/father.

He's a douchebag, and there are a lot of people here who think it's still cool to be a douchebag. Or they were picked on in high school, and douchebaggery is their 'revenge.'

Watch an episode and you'll figure it out yourself you'll get biased opinions here. This isn't a biased opinion btw.

I think that it's hilarious that Javyn and miloz are the two people who are down on people being rude to others.

Irony is indeed sweet.

Jewish conspiracy.

His character is crass and obnoxious, but Piven's timing and delivery are brilliant. I'd guess that most are attracted to Piven and his acting more than the character of Ari Gold, however Ari does manage to redeem himself in nearly every episode. I'd even say that one of the biggest themes in the show is how much he really cares about his family as well as Vinnie Chase and his gang. This is particularly true in seasons 4 and 5.

Or a conspiracy of Jews.

I can't speak to why people are so fascinated with him, but it drives me nuts that a bunch of douche bags have stolen Jeremy Piven. I've been a fan of his for a long time, all the way back to when he was a character actor who couldn't get a job without John Cusack. He was the way-too-old-for-college cool guy from PCU and the weird cashier from Singles, now he's the idol of the douches. It's really unfortunate.

^^Just shows what a good actor he is. I mean, he is acting, and it's just a character.

^^ For sure. I don't mean to criticize him. I mean to criticize all of the people who stole one of my favorite character actors and turned him into a household name. It's like when you listen to a relatively obscure band for years only to have the teen trendy set suddenly become their biggest fans. You're happy the band is doing well, but you know you'll never get to see them in a 200 person capacity bar again.

Entourage??? I thought people like him because of his memorable roles in 'Say Anything', 'Singles' and as the gay clothes salesman in one of those 'Rush Hour' movies.
