Anyone eat here in NYC? Is it as cool and fun as it looks? Is the food any good?

I went a few years ago. Its pretty gimmicky and the food isn't worth the price either, but I imagine it could be fun if you went with a bunch of children.

That looks fucking retarded.

I'm surprised that place hasn't closed yet

I saw place on the Travel Channel. I definitely would have thought it was awesome when I was 8 years old.

So where is it? Not because I want to go or anything...

Not to be a buzzkill but I just have to post this Bruni review of this place. It is by far one of the funniest he's written during his tenure.

The review is accurate. Boys obsessed with ninjas would like it, but I don't know who is going to pay their prices to take a bunch of kids out for a meal.

That does sound pretty dismal and too expensive for the type of crowd of friends I want to go with to have fun there.

Tried to find the one in Tokyo about five years ago. Never got around to going in though. Too much fighting outside. Had to kill 20 people and then jump into a tree.

The original Ninja Restaurant in Tokyo (Akasaka) http://www.ninjaakasaka.com/ was good entertainment -especially if out with a small group. The food was good but portions stingy, and the final bill a bit pricey. Okay to go to once or twice but more than three times is probably pushing it. They have a small bar near the entrance which is used to hold guests awaiting their reservations but you can stroll in for a drink. The good thing is that both the restaurant and bar are open until 02:00 am.

I went almost two years ago. The decor is nice if you are into the whole ninja theme thing. The 'waiters' are dressed as ninjas and the menu is on scrolls. They have set courses and an a la carte menu. When I last went, all of the courses included steak. I don't eat beef so I opted for the vegetarian course. The food was good and the portions were just right that I didn't feel overstuffed at the end. Their tiramisu was shaped as a bonsai tree which was imaginative. Near the end of the dinner, there was a 'ninja magician' that went from table to table to perform magic tricks. By magic tricks, I meant the kind of stuff with playing cards and toy props that you find at a hobby shop. My date at the time was into the whole ninja theme so she enjoyed herself. I was drinking quite a bit so I enjoyed myself. Overall, I would have to agree with jaydc7. It's very much overpriced and gimmicky.

Did you say something about a tiramisu?
