Examples? A notch lapel is typical with a Neapolitan-style jacket. They're all over the forum, including all the Rubinacci specimens.

My Cucinelli has peak lapels and what I consider to be soft shoulders. Is that a bad thing?

I am also going to be purchasing my first bespoke suit in the next few months. My gut reaction on your fabric choice is to hold off on what would undoubtedly be a statement color/pattern/etc. choice, particularly as a first commission. A more wardrobe friendly choice would certainly get a lot more use in both the short term and long term.

I will be going for a gray or blue flannel to complement the 6 suits hanging in my closet. I would hope it would be easily worn to a funeral or a wedding.
