What laptop do you own?

Thread Starter
Mine is a new Elitebook (3930p) with aluminum case, 120gb drive, Core Duo, SD reader...loaded. Also a nice docking station. I really like it since the screen is bright and high resolution plus decent 4 hour battery life. Running XP and it boots up and shuts down fast. The spreadsheet and PowerPoint speed is lightning. Trackpoint device is well done as is the keyboard. The really cool thing is it has the SD reader so I put my CD database on a microsd card and now have access on my env Touch cell phone. Works very well. Best of all it is light as I will be traveling a lot this year. I'm curious what laptops other SF members own and how they like them.

Lenovo S10-2. Small, light, fairly fast, nice screen, 7-8 hrs of battery life (with wireless), built-in card reader. It's fantastic!

The newly released Sony Vaio, 256GB solid state drive. 2.88 MHZ...carbon fibre body. HD screen. Pretty small and very light.

Wife's old IBM (pre-Lenovo) Thinkpad T41. Bought it used off ebay in...2003 (?), been bulletproof ever since. Use every day, no compelling reason to upgrade.

It's a great lappy. My T42 gave up right after law school. The graphics chip got loose, which was a common problem for the T40s. Now it doesn't even power on.

Some Dell XSP thingy that turns on and off, lets me surf the web and work on office documents. I think there's a processor in it.

Macbook, aluminum body

I have an HP as well and it is pretty decked out, but I just prefer the Macbook for most things I do.

Lenovo T60. Two and a half years and still going great.

Lenovo W500. I have Windows 7 and Linux on it.

Compaq Pressario 2500. Comes with a whopping 256 MB RAM, about 1/2 hour of battery life and a fan that just keeps on turning.

Macbook Pro 17" (newest unibody model with the matte anti-glare screen) original Macbook Air (passed down to my girlfriend)

Household: I have a 17" MacBookPro (pre unibody); my wife has a white powerbook; my older daughter has my surplussed 15" titanium powerbook. I have some crappy Dell notebook in a docking station as my office desktop, but I don't ever travel with it. I prefer my Mac for business travel.

Would the new one be durable enough for travel? I would love to have something lighter for hauling around, but I am a bit frightened that it wont be sturdy enough.

I have two HP things, one for me and one for my 11 year old. The wife has two Sony VAIO machines, one personal and one from work. No idea about processors or other fancy stuff, just like gdl, they get me on the net, allow me to load pics and have Excel/Word in them so don't care what else they can do.

Wife is running a year'ish old Dell Inspiron (dual core), I have a 2'ish year old Dell Inspiron I use for travel, and I have a big ass Toshiba Qosmio, dual core, set up for serious gaming. Even the sound system is great, 4 HK speakers + subwoofer. It's ugly though, with some flashy red finish.
