My NdG Utility Jeans are impeccably made. They were a bit pricey, but not too far off of the typical pair of Japanese selvage jeans. That said, I haven't seen much else from them that I like the style of.

I am a huge NDG fan. They, aside from Diors, make the only jeans that fit how I want, and the washes / fabric they use on the jeans are always pretty cool and never trendy. As mentioned, sweaters and outerwear are there strong points. The shirting is OK, and i will only buy shirts from them on sale as the fit leaves a little to be desired (fits at my chest fine, but at the waste too much billowing i feel, and i dont like the straight cut they use; feels blousy too me.

They also have pretty good footwear - i loved the shoes they did with trickers. Wish i purchased when they were on sale for 200 bucks a year ago.

In terms of Isa, i think that he used to work at Marc Jacobs, back when Richarch Chai helped launch the line (Marc by Marc) and Robert Gellar worked there.

I've picked up two NDG items in the past couple of months - an F/W 08 military buttondown and a pair of the S/S 09 regular fit black jeans. I haven't had a chance to wear the shirt yet because it's been ungodly hot outside, but the fit and quality are on point. The jeans are a touch slimmer than my RB15s, and again, the quality is top notch.

I own two items from NdG: a pair of the gray raw denim, and this polyurethane-coated motorcycle jacket:

They're both amazing, especially the jacket, which fits great, is super-warm, and is obviously going to last forever. I haven't been impressed with the shirting or spring-summer stuff, but the 'tougher' items (denim, outerwear, heavy knits) are outstanding. I plan to pick up more denim this year and maybe a sweater.

My only experience with NdG is with the denim, as their XL shirts are too tight in the shoulders for me. Construction and materials on NDG jeans, however are impeccable, and I like the style.

Fit leaves something to be desired. I bought last year's jet-black classic-cut jeans in both 34 and 36... the 34s wouldn't fit over my thighs, so I sold them, and kept the 36. Now the 36 fit perfect everywhere except the waist, where I've got an extra inch and a quarter of room (probably will try a hot soak on waistband). Maybe it's just my body style, but I have to disagree with what I've read in other threads that NdG jeans are for a more athletic build.

That's a nice jacket but anything with ribbing isn't going to last forever (at least you'll have to replace the ribbing at some point)

being 'Made in Japan' is a good point, of course that can be all over the place but it's a good start. They have high aspirations, considering they were a printed tee shirt brand at the beginning, but don't we all?

If you buy an outerwear piece, get it from a place with a good return policy. I've salivated over many of their jackets, and tried quite a few on in person. Their fits and patterns seem to be all over the place. In some jackets, a Small is loose on me - in others a Large is skin-tight.

I'm a huge fan of their styling though.

The things I've tried seemed pretty consistent... weird.

NDG is an ok brand, nothing exceptional style or quality wise, and I think that the MIJ hype isn't worth the pricing.

Who even carries this stuff with a decent selection? Who puts it on sale?

Kiosk78, a UK retailer, had a decent selection of their S/S stuff that got marked down a fair amount not long ago.

I'd like to buy some of their knitwear, but I wonder whether military surplus gear which NDG pieces are based on would be a better value. I'd expect the quality to be good and the cuts to be good, considering that most guys in the military are in good shape.
