swiss ball

I just read a bit about somebody who claims to travel with a swissball for excersize, and inflate it and deflate it every time. does any body do that? anybody use swiss balls? I thought that you basically just inflated them once and that was it, you weren't supposed to deflate and inflate them.

anybody know?

That sounds ridiculous and ingenious at the same time. I don't think I'd have the patience to blow it up and deflate it all the time though. I go with a jump rope and predator bands.

I have a jump rope and a couple of 5 gallon collapsible jerry cans - 20 kilo kettlebells when filled with water. I was just looking for new ideas.

Predator bands. They're excellent for travel and work just as well at home. What's a jerry can?

I only use a swiss ball to do 2 sets of 5-8 reps (depending on my mood) of weighted crunches. I bought a 65 cm (or was it 75 cm) ball once while in undergrad and the time it took to inflate with with the shitty little pump it came with was a workout in itself. The idea of repeatedly doing that while travelling is decidedly distasteful.

I use a swiss ball as a chair. It fits between the powerrack base and the wall at the gym I'm at. I sit on it between sets. Sometimes people will have the nerve to ask to use the ball when it's clear that I'm sitting on it and recovering.

I've got one, but can't say I use it too often, anymore. Gets in the way more than anything. I'll use it for various types of push-ups more than anything.

If you're traveling, a jump rope, band, and equipment-free exercise (i.e. Death by Bodyweight) should do just fine.

That is a ton of effort for what you get out of it. I agree on the jump rope idea and body weight training and really how many places that you travel to do not have a gym in them anymore that has something you can use to replace the ball at least temporarily.
