Dining Room Table Recommendation?

Looking for a dining room table and thought you all might have some guidance. Here is what I have in mind:

1. Round table 45-50 inches
2. Aesthetic - I tend to like more modern/minimal designs
3. Material/Color - Fairly open. I have light wood floors and figured the color should compliment the floors, though I wouldnt want something that was too close.
4. Budget - Would like to stay in the $1,000 - $1,500 range

I have looked at some of the tables at the usual suspects (DWR, R&B etc) and the table that was most appealing was probably the Saarinen in white marble. However, thought that folks here might have some slightly more "out of the box" suggestions.

Thanks!

Isn't the Saarinen nearly twice your budget? Not a lot of great round tables I can think of - the Saarinen is great, maybe in a different color scheme than what's often found? (e.g. black metal base and wood top?). The Prouvé round gueridon is great but also out of the range.

The Cherner round table is a killer and roughly in your range.

The Jens Risom one is cool too - not as nice as the Cherner IMO

What chairs are you using though? I'd think that it's an important part of the equation

The problem with the wood tops for the Saarinen is that they are exorbitantly priced. We have a laminate/white and will most likely purchase a marble top for it in the future.

Check those out.

there is always the Eames table. Plenty of color options and is below your price point.

Yes, Saarinen is pricey and realistically is out of my budget, that is why I am trying to get a feel for some other suggestions that are more attainable

Dont have any dining room chairs at this point. Figured I would find the table that worked best and go from there.

Looks like office furniture though

ooooh... then you should get a Hans Olsen set. Pretty cool stuff - but you'll have to hunt a little

also, a little small and pushing the price limits, but I've always liked this particular table for something unique

also, if you like the Saarinen but can't justify the full granite price

Is this the set you are thinking of?

Any idea how much this runs?

I like this one a lot, though it may be too small.

Yep - between $1k and $2k depending on condition and location.

I always thought it was the perfect dining set for a smaller NYC apartment - also happens to extend for a larger party. The 3-feet chairs are uber cool

IMO, the Saarinen is best in white laminate. The marble looks, to me, off.

Marble looks "off" 99% of the time IMHO.

He should get the Olsen set. Or one of those hovering alien tables (the one with weird, organic-like stools) but those are pricey and I don't remember who made them.

That's actually pretty cool.
