Fossil Shoes... (Yes, the watchmakers)

I didn't know they made shoes and quality is probably sub-par but some looks somewhat good from the pics.

Retail seems a bit too much though. Anyone tried any of these?

Jacobson Boot doesn't look too bad for $140.

Not a fan of the split toe.

I believe those are one notch above skechers.

The good thing about the boots is that if they're anything like the watches, they'll soon end up at the Fossil outlet for pennies on the dollar. There's something about the heel I don't like but I rather like split toes on that style of boots. Reminds me of a certain type of upland boots. I also think that the product development folks didn't do the shoe any favors with the shoe store lacing. I think they'd look better with criss-cross lacing.

Better then a lot of shoes out there but still would never buy.

I'm impressed. Making something boring be ugly at the same time is quite a feat.

this thread is as good if not better than the ne-yo thread.

Aren't you guys being too harsh? I was going to start this thread by asking if the shoes looked good without mentioning the brand and I just don't think it would have gotten as much hate if I did.

The boots I posted isn't bad looking, definitely not the worst looking I've seen posted here. It is similar to Alden Tanker and Indy combined just different ess laces and the uppers are modified. I have a feeling that if the shoes looked the same and were made by Alden or Red Wing, it will get so much praise and love.

I mean, the shoes looks decent with a simple design, it isn't too out there or loud, nor is it bulky or weird looking and trying to be original with unnecessary aesthetics. Heck the other shoes like Sidwing is not much of a different from the mid-Sperry's and the Osborne Oxford Low reminds me of NDC and the Osborne mid and chelsea looks similar to some Opening Ceremony and JV shoes I've seen, which a lot of people here seem to adore and love. Other than the name and probably quality, I can't see why there is so much hate? I mean no sarcasm here either, educate me on what I am missing or may have overlooked.

As mentioned before, chances are these will end up in the outlets and for 30%-50% off, it will a good alternative for those who can't afford Alden, W&H, Red Wing, Paul Smith, etc... even if the quality is Skechers quality.

You are correct. If these shoes were made by Alden or Red Wing, that would make them either Aldens or RedWings which are both way better than these Fossil.

I don't understand what you are trying to do. You are basically posting a Timex and want to know why we don't like it and that we would love it if it was Omega even though it is nothing compared to a Omega.

I'm not asking people to like, I am simply wondering why the hate. Just because of the name? So what if, by a chance they make better quality shoes than Red Wing (hypothetically) will people still hate? So let's say this is decent quality for the price, like let's say, a Seiko watch, a fraction of a price of Red Wing or Aldens, which let's say is Tag Heuer, should that take anything away from Seiko or Fossil? Another example could be people clamoring for the new GAP jeans and the 40% off sale on it. It is in no way the same quality as APC or Nudie but it gets loved for the look and price with decent quality, which this shoe could provide.

I mean we honestly do not know the quality of the shoes, sure it could be crap but to hate on it just for the name seems a bit ridiculous.

i think they look good except for the sole and that little leather thing on the back. i agree with what you are saying rfx you seem to have a lot of paul smith which is by all means a pretty decent shoe. of course if you posted those in MC you might get some hate cuz they arent EG level. the internet is a very elitist place, just stick with posting things that mesh well with the SF uniform

It's not just about the name, the boots look cheap as hell. If I was to ever buy them I wouldn't pay more than $50. Based of everything that I have ever seen from Fossil, they are a notch above Sketchers (which someone already said) which isn't saying much.

The new Wolverine Heritage line look great and I would guess that they are as good if not better than Red Wings. I would have never even bothered with Wolverines before but now I am thinking twice. I haven't seen them in person but you can tell a lot by a picture.

My point is that it's not about the brand it's about the product and those look like crap.
