I like military surplus gear.

It is quite versatile and can be mixed into various looks for different results.

basically i'd like this to maybe be a resource similar to jets LVC thread, or the rrl thread to help out the inevidible influx of 'i'm looking for a peacoat' or 'where can i get an m-65' type threads that start to spring up during F/W.

also, its a chance for folks to show off surplus gear they have.

I don't have much, but am pretty fond of my m-65.

I have an m51 fishtail i could post detail pics of if anyone was interested.

I see a ton of boot/shoe pics on waywt.

anyhow, lets see what you kids got [exclamation point]

edit the thread title to make it look more official, eg use capital letters and maybe a colon

Friend of mine at school has a beautiful pair of military issue shorts that I might steal from him. He also has double breasted coat that is pretty ******* bad ass, it has some ridiculous shiny gold buttons on it though.

I have a double-breasted full length peacoat from 1961 I got at a thrift. It's got the bright buttons and it's a bit too big though. I'm also not sure if I like it down to my calves.

Good thread idea robbie.

Anyone have recommendations for good mil surplus sites? Im looking for m-65 cargos/field trousers or similar european pants from the same era or ww2.

I got a lot of stuff myself, mostly swedish, but some US like m-48 fish tail parka (without lining though, otherwise its worth a fortune, still probably worth a buck), m-51 cargo pants, and m-65 fish tail parka.

That outfit reminds me of some Taxi Driver steeze, robbie. I like it.

This is a good thread idea. Some mil. surplus suppliers: http://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/ http://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/ http://www.thehock.com/ - where I used to get all my Civil Air Patrol supplies I personally own a pair of speed lace combat boots and a pair of jungle boots (too big

). Footwear is about all I can repurpose from the typical BDU uniform. A lot of my favorite fits are also composed in part of vintage military clothing. To wit: http://www.stylezeitgeist.com/forums...&postcount=386 http://www.stylezeitgeist.com/forums...&postcount=780 http://www.stylezeitgeist.com/forums...&postcount=442 http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.p...ostcount=16052 http://www.styleforum.net/showpost.p...postcount=2917 http://www.stylezeitgeist.com/forums...postcount=6926 Edit to add that I've got my eye on a couple of awesome coats. http://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/pro...=bjktun01&ST=2 http://www.armynavydeals.com/asp/pro...U=092105C&ST=2

Great idea for a thread. I sometime wear:

  • French army double-buckle leather boots
  • Israeli/Portuguese gym boots (like a Converse All-Star with a tread)
  • German army grey-green parka (warm, well fitting and looks great) with national flag patches removed.

Ok you have to get the scoop on those shorts and report back in with details.

French army shorts are reasonably slim fitting, if a little short for my liking.
