^ I agree. If the Monster can take any form outside of the island, his comment of wanting to go "home" wouldn't really make sense -- assuming "home" is off the island.

there's jacob, the locke dude, and the christian dude who i think is above both of the other dudes.

Why go through the game of getting jack to poison sayid? If he's a risk, why not just shoot him using one of the many armed guards??

Apparently them killing him won't work. The poison is the only way to kill Sayid and Sayid needs to want to take the pill for it to work. It seems like for whatever reason the new Others can really force the survivors to do anything. Yes they kidnapped them but when Sawyer made his big commotion when he was trying to break out they didn't stop him even though they clearly had the manpower to rush him, Dogen just sincerely pleaded that he stay, and Sawyer didn't. Just like he couldn't refuse Kate's request to leave, and Jin's request to go with her. Even in earlier seasons this was the case, but it hasn't really been revealed until now. When Ben wanted Jack to operate on his tumor he told Jack "I want you to want to save me". He could have just forced him to operate or threatened to kill Kate (who was imprisoned with him). There are a lot of flaws to this theory though.

I thought the one in the premiere was interesting, but Kate centric episode have always felt like fillers.

I actually like where you're going. ^_^

Unsurprisingly, in some cases, what the characters ultimately chose to do was a result of manipulation [see: Ben letting Jack catch James and Kate **********; Dogen claiming the pill was medicine].

Locke centric episodes are always great and this was no exception. I wish Locke gets a proper funeral kinda sad how they make him look so pitiable this season. He was actually pretty badass before Smokie took over his body even if it was because he was manipulated into manipulating himself.

free will vs fate has been a strong theme of this show throughout it's run. Seems like it is going to be an overriding theme of the wrapup. Blowing up the nuke was supposed to be an attempt to alter the course of events, but the whole alt timeline shows that these people are inextricably intertwined. It will be interesting to see whether one side prevails.

When are they going to start answering all the ******* questions? I've watched the show for its entire run, but for the last couple of seasons I've done so mostly just to see the damn thing through. It would be great if the series could actually answer some of the questions and plot holes that were so important in the first season or two, like:

Why is/was Walt so important/special?
Why couldn't women give birth on the island?
What do the numbers signify?
How did all the Egyptian crap get there?
How/why did the Island heal certain people (Locke, Rose...)?
How/why did the Dharma Initiative find and come to the Island?
Why were they doing stupid experiments with polar bears, etc.?
Why should we care about the Black Rock, the Hansos and the de Groots?
What the hell is Jack's dad doing on the Island?
Why didn't all the Others go hide out in the Temple when the bad guys came, instead of just a couple of them?
Who is Richard?

^^ If you believe the FLocke (fake Locke) then the numbers were revealed last week. (don't want to spoil in case someone hasn't seen it yet).

The creators said they don't want to answer every single question and come off as pedantic. Personally, I like that approach, but will be pissed without answers to the big ones.
