Octoberfest?

Going to be in Berlin for work in - wait for it! - mid-Rocktober and was wondering if it's worth it to go to Octoberfest? I think it's in Munich.

Has anyone been and is it fun?

Oktoberfest is actually mostly in September, and has well disbanded by mid-October.

Yeah it sort of sucks, especially since I have a business convention in Augsburg (about an hour from Munich) every two years, and it's typically in the first or second week of October. Apparently it's held for 16 days preceding the first Sunday in October, so it can stretch up to a week into October but no farther.

Yes, it's mostly in September and ends in early October - I went last year and had an amazing time. And yes, it's in Munich.

I went about a half dozen times, maybe more. when I got married my wife was "so, you are going to spend a thousand bucks to drink beer? I don't think so"

I went in 2000. Think of it as the world's largest and friendliest kegger. Definitely go if you get the chance; it's something everyone should do at least once.

I was planning to tack on a small trip to my "summer" trip to Croatia, which is Sept 9-16. It took a few days, but then finally dawned on me: "Oktoberfest starts in mid to late September!!" I'll get to enjoy the first day of Oktoberfest and then leave Munich the next day.
