My iPhone is Slow - Anyone have any recommendations?

I have an iPhone 3G, not the new S version. I've noticed that, particularly since updating my software to the latest package, that it's gotten rather sluggish. iPod sometimes takes 3-5 seconds to load, other apps tend to do the same. Even pulling up my phone book can take a few seconds. I guess it's nothing terminal, but it's super-annoying.

It's not like I've got the thing crammed - I have only a few apps on it (Facebook, Lexulous, Virtual Pool, I think that's pretty much it) and I still have 6GB of free disk space. Am I doing something wrong? Or should I just suck it up until I can upgrade to a newer model?

Hard news is that the new update to the 3GS was a big Fuck YOU to all the 2g and 3g owners since with it they also released v3 of the iPhone OS which is designed for the 3gs' newer faster processer and better handling of graphics intensive progs. All the suckers at my school who dumped the $500-600 to get a 3g are really kicking themselves now.

Restart the phone. Usually any reports I've read of the iPhone getting sluggish are related to too many apps but that doesn't seem to be the case here. It may be related to one individual app you have though. As a last resort, I would suggest a wipe and then reinstallation of everything except for maybe your contacts. Don't do a restore. Perhaps a better suggestion would be to restore and if it's still running poorly to then not restore and reinstall everything instead.
