also i should warn against buying any expensive jeans you aren't familiar with or can try on in person, unless of course you can afford the mistake. and with XX denim trying them on raw doesn't help to much either ...

Why'd you decide to sell them? Have you considered the bootcut instead? There is a pretty big difference in fit.

Brian seems to love his, and he says they fit pretty slim, but it's so hard without trying them on. Especially since I'm not the biggest bootcut fan, although if they were really great, I could always get the bootcut taken out... EDIT: No! No, PG2G! I have too many jeans as it is, stop tempting me! Who am I kidding, I have a problem...

I am going to Japan in June and will check them out.

Ahaz, I dont own the straight downs, I've only tried them on. Sorry to hear you don't like them that much, but I guess every once in awhile you recommend something to someone and they just dont like it

I may be crazy, but those look like bootcuts to me.

I have never seen 5EP straight down with a button fly. Mine are zipper. Mine also have a much narrower (lower) leg.

Didn't even think about it. But yeah... afaik straight = zipper and boot = button.

Interesting. I'm pretty sure they're legit, unless Richard at Famous Friends is making his own counterfeits in his basement... Some people I talked to were sure that 5EP was made in the US. My tag says 'Got made in Japan'. Maybe they changed styles and where they were manufactured at some point? Maybe mine are just older? Maybe I'm just guessing here? Oh yeah, they're perfectly straight from the knee down. 7 7/8 inches all the way.

I believe that past-season straight 5EPs were button fly. It looks like the pair you have is a couple of years old. I could be wrong, of course.

My tag also says "got made in Japan."

This reminds me that mine were tagged "straight down dark wash", but they are the one-wash aka resin. So maybe some bootcuts got tagged as straight down. Just a hypothesis.

I don't think they're counterfeit, BTW, didn't mean to imply that at all.
