I would stick with U last for the chiseled look of Rain, or K if you want even more chiseling.  U,K and F (more rounded toe) all have a fairly  high instep.  I don't find I have to go to a wide fitting in these lasts (and Rain is the Carmina last that fits me best) but it is an option if width accommodation is your primary concern.

Glad to help! And yes, call it charm.

P2 has a higher instep than F, although a wide fitting of F might solve that and the other problems as well.

Tried the F on yesterday, and while the double monk accommodates my absurdly high instep, I struggled to even get my foot into oxfords. Went up a half size, and was swimming in space, especially across my toes. Go figure.

It's absurd to size up to fit...

Why not get a wider fitting pair? Vass makes wide fitting shoes for every last and sometimes extra wide...

Carmina Inca and Rain are quite different to look at.

I would recommend Vass F Last to begin with...it's very sleek and has a high instep....I believe Razor will sort you out if you want extra width.

All this talk of high insteps leads me to wonder which Vass lasts have relatively low insteps. Anyone?

I mean, I tried a larger pair on for size. Did not buy. I suppose that a wide fitting is the answer but I of course cannot get that off the shelf.

Agree with chogall and Jubei on this.

Vass shoes don't cost more on MTO. Or the up charge is so minuscule to matter.

80 Euros I believe

Correction; 100 Euros for calf shoes. Boots are special priced. (Based on 2013 price list)

F has low insteps.

No, it does not. I have high insteps - that's my number one fit issue across the board. The F last accomodates my instep quite adequately in an oxford closure (I have 2 pairs of those) - something not at all true of a great many brands and a great many lasts in a standard width shoe.

I appreciate that there are both subjective and comparative elements involved, but I can think of no objective basis upon which the F last could be described as having a low instep. In fact, the reason that U,F and K lasts are all go-to choices for me is because of their high insteps.

Rezso told me that U last was not a high instep but its become apparent to me that I don't even know my own shoe size so who knows!?
