Shell norweger is calling my name... or osloer boot...

I went 45.5 on the P2 in the Osloer per Rezso's recommendation and the fit is pretty much spot on. here are my other sizes...

Alden Barrie: 11.5D
Alden Plaza & Grant: 12D
Carmina Forest & Oscar: UK 11
RL Lindrick: 12D

Low instep good toe room sounds about right to me. Can't go wrong with either of those choices.

And stmaier: those Osloer boots... So nice.

Can anyone comment whether the F or U last is longer for the same size?

And is there anyone whose feet measures close to 26cm long and 10 cm wide? Perhaps you can share your size in F and P2, and how they fit? Many thanks!

hermmj, go with a norweger. that particular design is exclusive to Vass and nobody has done it better

All I can say is that I take the same size in K, U and F lasts.  I don't find any of them longer or shorter than the other.  Fit through heel, instep and forefoot is pretty much the same.  Toe box is where you find the difference.

I had a pair of oxfords (F last) in 40 and were big so I hope the aforementioned sizes work for me. I think the New Peter in 39.5 should work okay since it has been described as a fuller last but I'm a bit concerned with the U last. I have been told that the outsole of the U lasted shoe in 40 was approximately around 11" x 3 5/8" and this seems short for a reputable "longer" last (relative to UK6 or US7 according to charts).

he is back! your sizing sounds about right. what are you thinking about this go around?

I'm a US8.5D and I take a 41.5 in the U last, so your estimation sounds right. With my limited experience (1 F and 1 U), my U last is a little shorter than the F.

Can you help me out by measuring the actual outsole length of your U and F lasted shoes please? I am confused because my F last pair is longer than my U last pair. I always assumed the opposite. They are both unmarked MTOs but are supposed to be the same size. Trying to nail down my size in P2 through this comparison.

TIA!

Heel to heel, sole to sole, my 43U and 43F look exactly the same length to my eye.  I'm not sure how much small differences in outsole length can tell you about fit in any event, but good luck in your search.

If you don't mind me asking what's your size in other shoes? I've narrowed down my size to 43.5 so far. I realize that's not your size but I'm just trying to see if I'm at least in the right postal code. Buying Vass for a first timer is a bit nerve wracking.

My feet are 26cm long and 101/104mm wide, with a high instep. My size is 41G or 41.5F for F, U and P2. Here are some images of how 41G on the U last fits me - the fit on the F last is pretty much the same.

E-fitting any brand with which you are unfamiliar is a challenge.  And the fact that sizing can be all over the map when comparing different brands - and even different lasts within a given brand - doesn't help.

Anyway, I have a wide-ish foot and a high instep and wear the following.

UK 8.5 Carmina Rain

UK 9 Carmina Robert or Forest (boot fitting)

UK 9 Edward Green 888

UK 9.5 Gaziano & Girling TG73 (boot fitting)

US 9.5 Alden Barrie

US 10D for most Allen Edmonds

Euro 43 Vass - U,F and K
