My friend who bought his C&J around 20 years ago also commented on the same thing... it's almost exactly just like watches. Prices are whatever the market will bear.

The laces were fully closed and they were about 1/4" too long.

Thanks for info on the toe cap.

But were they comfortable? The F last instep is fairly high so you may just have a lower instep. An insole could solve that problem. I wouldn't worry about the creases at all. I don't have one pair of Vass or EG that show no creases. Some crease early and some crease later. I'm of the opinion that if the shoe fits wear it as that trumps all minor aesthetics over time. And remember, perfection doesn't exist.

Well then it does sound like they were probably 1/2 size too big for your feet. You should try 43.5, and maybe other lasts too (P2 if you want to stay in the round toes, maybe U if you're looking for something sleeker like F)

Thanks fellas. The shoes were, overall, comfortable.

I was more concerned about the creasing with the toe cap. I have had a lot of shoes, from various makers. I am not overly concerned about the other creases that come with owning leather shoes.

I was thinking 1/2 size down, or an insole, in my current size, they are gone now so the next order would be an experiment as I don't remember everything about the shoes.

I have a similar creasing on a F-lasted suede captoe. My impression is, as pointed out earlier, that it is to blamed to the short toe stiffener because the shoe fit great.
I wear it with a smile anyway :-)

100% agree this must be Vass best looking shoes of all time.

Don't think any of my Lobb museum calf up to scratch....Lobbs machine welted single sole no match for the Vass hand welted
Piece.

If the new museum calf also looks like this, then I'll be ordering some soon.

Sadly, I asked vass if they send swatches/samples of the different leather colors, but they don't.

I only wish they made jodhpur style boots but I guess not.

Vass needs an alternative to U. U is much too chiseled. Something in a soft square maybe
