I really like how the Budapest last makes up in a loafer. Unfortunately the pair I received recently are either a 1/2 size or a width too small. I'm going to try them again though. And when I get the size right, ostrich may well be in the cards.

Did you get the lasts of each of the Norwegers? That would be an interesting exhibit.

Also, are the shell Budapesters deliberately 2-tone, or is that natural variation?

The soles-- straight single/double, or is there some intermediate width?

stmaier, thanks for the awesome news about Vass shell color availability. It's always nice to get up on a Saturday morning and find out there are so many options.

Rezső at Vass has been a pleasure to communicate with...always get an answer in a day or two...eagerly awaiting my MTO to confirm sizing and already have a couple of other in mind...

stmaier, is there an easy, fool proof, or best way to determine Vass sizing? I have pretty much worn an EU45 equivalent in a standard D width since Ronald Reagan was getting his horoscope read in the Oval Office.

Not sure yet...I told Reszo my sizes in other shoes and he recommended a 45.5 in the New Peter last...I will have confirmation in about two weeks...

It was also extremely helpful that NAMOR is the same size as I am and I was able to get some help from him...

I have a 45 in the New Peter as an 11D US. Does that help? Happy to try to answer questions on this here or via PM.

For those who wear UK6, do you do a 39 or 39.5 on the U?

FrCpw, yes that size reference gives me a great deal of information. I measure as an US11.5D. If I'm within half a size, give or take a little, I usually order a couple of different sized shoes. Thanks.

The upper stitches on my EG Dover takes a skilled craftsman 3 hours to complete 1 pair, using pigs bristle and fine needles.

I asked Vass if they can attempt something similar to resemble the Dover stitches - I am still waiting for feedback.

AppleMark

Did you hear back from them on this? I really like the EG Nevis (essentially the boot version of the Dover) and am wondering if Vass can make something similar.

No can do from Vass - Plan B was to find someone in Northampton who could make me a pair of Dover. Managed to persuade a friend of a friend - and WIP...pics to come shortly...the uppers are being stitched as we speak...

Interesting, just heard back from Rezso and he said it should not be a problem. I even included pics of the Nevis with close ups of the stitching...wondering if they have something else in mind....

Was it hand stitching they could not do? Want to make sure I know what I may be receiving if I go ahead with an order based on the email saying it would not be a problem...

If I am not mistaken, most if not all of those Norwergers are on P2 last.  The boots are U last.
