Newly arrived brown scotch grain Norweger slippers, Budapest last on a single Dainite sole. They allow me to join the club comprised of members who received Vass shoes not quite made to order specifications. You will note that they are missing the vertical stitching on the toe.

I really can't be upset. They are very nice.

Also ordered a belt in what I recall as red scotch grain, which is a pleasant red brown color.

Their dainite soles really don't look all that bad. I might just opt for them on the next pair of Vass I buy.

Hi Gents,

I am in NYC and am looking for a Vass store that I could mail order shoes from.  Any suggestions - say in London, Germany....?

I have tried emailing this address but it keeps bouncing.

ulast@budapester.com

I have a wide shoe so will need to degree of customer service as opposed to just ordering online.  Alden Modified Last works pretty well for me but would like more choices.

Thanks.

Do Vass offer lasted trees for different widths and for halfsizes? For instance, I'm 42.5(G). Will the shoetrees be in the same size and width or perhaps 42(F)?

Contact Vass directly. Mr Kuti is very helpful man. I tried once one of German retailer and I have to say they offered me no value added. Mind about sizing.

They do not make half size tree. If your shoes are 42.5 it should come with 43.
I have not asked about width though.

Very nice. I actually like them better than with the split toe stitching. What is it with the dainite soles though? I only see stitching on the front of the sole. Does Vass do closed channeled stitching on dainite now? smile.gif

Since they do everything by hand I believe it is near impossible to do a full stitch. They do not have a machine that can welt the rubber sole. Handmade craftsmanship at its best smile.gif

I don't think I understand, is it glued on, or how is the construction?

Thank you.

Personally, I really like how the Budapest last works for this model.

There's no obvious evidence of stitching of the outsole to the think leather midsole on the shoes. There's what I'd call crimping, which leads me to think that the rubber may have been glued on. Not sure if this is consistent with what Notch is saying.

Also interesting is that the entire heel stack is rubber.

I'm looking forward to seeing how these wear.

Interesting, thank you. I wonder if anyone can shed some light on the construction? Oh, and congrats on the shoes. The scotch grain looks great.

This picture of the Vibram sole taken from Ascot Shoes - looks similar in construction to the Dainite.

But with the Dainite, I see some stitches at the tip of the toe.
