This is correct. And also the fact we got a better price overall (below retail) since we ordered as a big group rather then dealing direct with them alone. I estimate we saved approximately USD60 per person (taking into account taxes, bank fees), some even more as shipping was combined. Not a lot but its still money for small timers like me 

A horrible picture of some of the shoes that arrived. Camera (an excuse for my lack of photography skills) and weather was shitty.

I am quite a shameless bargain hunter and I got a pretty sweet deal (below prices mentioned here) from them even though I was by myself and ordered just two pairs...you just have to know how to ask.

And I am sure the money you save in fees, you pay a fair bit more than that towards higher price you are charged by the proxy...so where's the real benefit?

OK, so €40 is a trifling amount for a "shameless bargain hunter".

So...is knowing how to ask bargaining with Reszo? Something along the lines of "discount plz, first time buyer long time customer"? Along with a request for a purchase order with the Vass letterhead detailing your order, you must be quite a fun person to work with! But hey, maybe I'll pull that card out if and when I decide to get my next pair from them alone. Maybe I'll get a "pretty sweet deal" too.

I know you're going to respond with some sort of statement saying I'm always siding with proxies and I'm a friend of a proxy or even that I'm a proxy myself. I'm not on their side. I have never met Terrorsquad in person (all our communication has been through email). And I'm not a proxy for Vass.

The problem with you is that you seem to just chide and deride proxies any chance you get. Photos of your new shoes - some smartass comment about how you successfully ordered alone and proxies suck. Chiming in with sizing advice - another smartass comment about how Reszo was so helpful and proxies were useless.

We don't need to read all that shit. Many have had great experiences with using proxies and are happy to pay the premium (what, you think they don't know buying direct from Vass is an option?). I've read that some decided to go the route of using a proxy after buying direct from Vass didn't turn out quite right. Evidence is there - that sometimes; sometimes, proxies help.

You, and many others, are content with buying directly from Vass; that's all fine. But I don't see those many others shit talking proxies all day long as if they had some deep rooted vendetta within.

Austerity brogues on the U last, in size 40.5. Antique cognac. Single leather soles, no metal taps. Italian polish.

I've completely stripped the Italian polish finish (with Saphir Renomat) since the sides were flaking off (look at the sides of the shoes in the pictures, you can see some weird creases) with some sort of residue. It's a much more muted look now, but I like it.

Also, one thing to note is that I think Vass' antique cognac colour is now different from before. This looks more like that 6125 dark cognac colour than what I originally wanted. Still doesn't detract from its beauty, though. It'd be nice if people with more recent orders made up in antique cognac can chime in about this, since Reszo mentioned it himself.

You need to stop getting so wound up chief. I am merely laying out an option...a solo option for Vass buyers who don't need a babysitter....many other potential buyers, even invisible lurkers, read these threads and they may benefit from all experiences. I was mildly amused to see how even with a proxy, there were some 'hiccups' in your MTO...doesn't say much. My transfer fees amounted to 25 euro so I'd rather pay that than a more substantial surcharge to a proxy. That is all.

The U last is quite slim. I'm a 40.5 on the U, and 40 on the F. I wear a UK6.5 for most C&J lasts (the 337; Belgrave, 341; Westfield), UK6.5 on Meermin's Ama last (which is wide but comfortable) and UK7 on Meermin's New Rey last (not one of my favourites, sadly). No experience with Alden or Allen Edmonds but I think I take a US8 in normal width shoes.

I also have a pair of EG Chelseas on the way which are on the 202 last in 6.5/7, which I think is a correct size.

Sure. Here are a pair of Vass captoes in antique cognac, size 41 on the F which were too big for me (bought them from a nice seller off B&S). The colour is definitely different and I was hoping to get something more like it, but apparently the antique cognac colour is now what my austerity brogues look like.

I adjusted the colour temperature in Photoshop for both these photos and the photos I posted previously. They're both at 5250K and I used a flash bounced off a white ceiling.

The pair of austerity brogues look more like their 6125 dark cognac colour than antique cognac, which many have said is a very unique and nice colour Vass offers. Do a search for the user LS7's posts in this thread - he posted a pair of austerity brogues in 6125 dark cognac; which I based my own order upon. 6125 dark cognac is a darker colour than antique cognac, which looks to me like a medium brown shade. 6125 dark cognac is on the darker side of brown.
