All budapest lasts are ugly blobs if the underlying aesthetic is misunderstood. Budapesters are have always been built for heavy wear, mountain hikes, field work and the like. The toebox is high to ease walking downhill and roomy for hay insulation, which was used back in the days. These are the shoes you'd wear with corduroy, jeans, heavy wool and such. Like the timeless double-sole fullwing gunboats, Budapesters are shoes for Men.

So many benefits to living in Europe.

Yep. Seeing as the large majority of the time I wear jeans, corduroys and other casual trousers I've been gravitating more towards the traditional Austro-Hungarian lasts. That and I like they way they look and they are comfy.

well the difference in postage is around € 15. not that much, if you consider the distance and operations behind.

fwiw, the Budapest last has his origin in the city to stand against cobblestones. Never been meant to be a work shoe and never was. i dunno, where this nonsense comes from??? ridiculous.

dude has to check his sources, srsly.

this makes no sense, imo. why should Vass allow exchanges to EU and not to the US. can you explain this, please.

That is not true. Vass allows exchanges for US whether shoes are bought direct from them or proxies and on one occasion they remade a shoe for me.

FWIW, when I contacted Vass directly, they were more than happy to accept exchanges. The cost of shipping [for returns/exhanges] is the main concern, however, this is buyer's responsibility and not Vass.

I agree. The buyer should bear some of the costs and expenses for wrong choices when buying online and direct without trying things on.

thanks for lifting this miracle. postage applies to EU customers as to US. it's compareable and a risk which can be calculated easily. right?

Sorry if I was a bit unclear. I know Vass do sometimes offer exchanges for US customers as well, but I also know some people who live in US have been denied that (that's why I wrote "...aren't that keen on..."). One was told it's because of all the extra problem with duties both when the shoes enter US and when the returning pair enters Europe. But it's of course great if they don't reason that way anymore at all and give everyone the opportunity to exchange wrong sizes.
