thx - to me the single sole offsets the informality of the pebblegrain . Thinking they'll be okay with suits

All the pics here, or most of them, are dramatic pics from the front. THis accentuates the flow of the shoe. Sometimes inaccurately. For shoes that can easily be above US$ 1,000 I find even the U-last a bit stumpy when seen from the vantage point of the shoe wearer. From top, with the shoes facing front. Would love to see some pics from there. Other makers with similar lasts and finish have a slightly longer flow in the front (don't know what the technical term is), which makes them look sleeker. Happy to be proven wrong!

Stumpy or not have nothing to do with price, or I would thought (Alden would be out of business otherwise). It's rather a personal preference thing. U-Last is pretty slick in person, I don't know if I want the front to be any more tapered and elongated than what it is.

thx for this - great photo, and that double on U in Oxblood looks really fine. Really liking the Budapest Oxford for a style, in dark cog on F with a single sole tho

might worth a shot to just email them, they have some of the U-Last in stock from 42.5 to 44 in stock if I recall correctly.

By the way I forgot to take picture on the 3636 last, it actually looks quite good in person as a semi-formal/casual shoe (it can be formal, depends on your taste), very good Alden shell alternative.
