Thanks gentlemen! Certainly not as exotic and eye catching as many other fabulous pairs I've seen here, but I need more simplicity in my shoes at the moment.
Dull moment....Never...."Life is not complex. We are complex. Life is simple, and the simple thing is the right thing"....By O Wilde.

Can you take a birdseye view of the shoes?

The first picture is closer to what I see in person. Looks like pretty 'muddy'. My family's first impression was "oh dark brown shoes".

I wonder if this is the 6125 cognac that everyone is familiar with? Or is there a variation between batches?

I'm considering Saphir's bordo or mahogany to give the shoes a more reddish tint.
You're spot on ArchAngel -

A picture definitely paints a thousand word - Looks unfinished and Vass should not have sent them to you.
But the problem easily remedied using Sapir cream....time to pull up your sleeves or send them back.

I'm at it right now, in fact.

Let's see how they look after a night's work...

MRMan, your pair looks very classy. In my opinion, it's amongst the nicest pairs that have been posted in weeks. One of the rare derbies which I really like. Way nicer than an EG Dover for example.

Louis XIV,

sounds like we're brewing for WWIII....

I have a pair of the rare Dover on the 82 last
and a pair of JL Chambord, gonna wait until my
Vass derby arrives and I'll give my personal
review & road test.....

I agree, it's not only the model, it's the F last man, a killer in that shoe

Very nice MR, most shoes I receive from Vass, except italian polished, looks a little dull, I always polish them first thing and look great.

What exactly does "Italian polished" mean?

(And is there any chance of anyone humouring my request for last/sole comparison pics?)

It is like a dirty quick polish, it is alright but don't expect it last long or look as good as a proper split-polish.

After getting the size 0.5 off in my first order i returned the shoes and added another pair and three belts. Just have to say that Rezo is absolute pleasure to deal with and I can't wait for the shoes and belts to arrive, just like waiting for christmas! Might have to look in to this museum calf now, if it's anything like the stuff they make for JL I will have to get my hands on a par!

Very true. Beautiful photos here. Just posting the link since it gives at least a comparative feel for what's meant by Italian polish.

Please post pics of the belts when they arrive.
