Unloved. Had the hardest time finding pictures in the wild. This is my contribution.

I received the Epaulet scotch grain shoes today. I went up a half size when one popped in stock, and it should work fine. It's the third Vass I have that seems like the outside of the right shoe is ratcheted down tighter than the left. I understand variances with hand made, but I swear one of the lasting guys looks like:

Hi guys - can you help a n00b with my first pair of Vass. Looking for some size guidance on these:

On G&G TG73, I am a UK 8.5 E - fits great
On C&J 348, I am a UK 8 E - fits well length wise but on occasion I get a little friction on my left pinky toe for some reason..
For AE I have always gone with a 9 D (medium) which has worked fine.

I have a relatively low arched foot - but I don't think it's to the extent that it could cause discomfort as some have warned in this thread.

Initially my thought on the F last was a 41.5, perhaps a 42, but this was based only on the general outer sole measurements. Greg advised a 42.5 because of the HAF soles, which I didn't even think to consider.

Any additional suggestions or does the 42.5 sound like the one? Help me pull the trigger on these beauties!

Thanks,

Steve

You have the same sizes as me but +0,5. I take size 41,5 in F-last. Have never tried 41, but I suspect it would be to small. 42 should be just right for you.

If UK8E on C&J 348, I'll revise my recommendation from 42.5 to 42.

Just want to give a shout out to Greg for his ability to spend some time today on the phone and having to suffer through my terrible ability to go over a few things. Thanks Greg for the help and staying patient.

Are you kidding?  My pleasure!   Your feedback was very useful.

I find myself interested in this Galosh Oxford too:

However, I'm not sure how much I'd be able to wear them. How casual can they go? I almost never get to wear suits, and rarely even get to wear sport coats outside of going to church on Sundays. Would it be acceptable to wear dressier cotton chinos with these?
^^^ I'd say "yes" to crisp cotton chinos, but I wouldn't go any more casual than that.

These would look particularly good with dress chinos that are on the darker side (brown, olive green, etc...)

Agreed, or jeans of the same ilk.  They are delicious.
