Antique is more red, and a little bit darker

Did not even know that there was a "varnish" option for the heel edge color.

Thanks. Which one is darker between antique and varnish?
I didn't know that was an option. I always thought it was

In order of lightest to darkest

Natural (no coloring)

Antique (reddish, with some brown)

Brown (a solid dark brown)

Black (solid black)

So I recently ordered a pair of awesome Alt Weins on the New Peter last. I had wanted burgundy shell with antique welt and edgetrim, but unfortunately they were made up with the dark brown welt and trim. Reszo was great and offered me a discount to keep them and I thought I would be fine with it. I should have known myself better and these recent photos of antique edgetrim pushed me over the edge. My current pair are still unworn, so I wanted to pass along my discounted pair to anyone who is interested, so I can re-order.

PM if you are interested in full specs of these size 43.5 Alt Weins.

I'd be happy with any one of those, but none are mine - I just saw a bunch of new (to me anyway) images posted on the Ascot Facebook page and thought I'd share.

Shell cordovan alt wien = very very good.
Double monk = very very good.
Chukka boot = good

Why the chukka boot only good, and not very very good?

^^^ Let me take a wild guess: "Haf" sole, which (I believe) needs an extra layer of leather in the heel to compensate for the thicker fore sole.  In the side picture, you can see that the front of the heel isn't sitting flat, levered up by the double sole, while the heel is only as deep as for a single sole.  How much of an issue this is has been hotly debated of course. But we know where SoS stands on the matter, and this is SF after all: we do detail.
