In the event you want to go for the exotics, I was quoted a price of 1300 euros for the caiman leather shoes.

Their belts are 90 euros while their shoe polishing kit that comes in leather bags are 100 euros.

I also managed to inquire about their refurbishing/resoling services. They will resole/refurbish your old Vass shoes for approximately 130-150 euros (Again, I stand to be corrected).

There is no need to be scared. Vass customer service is great. They are willing to exchange the pair; I'm the one who wants to keep it.
I ordered three and they are all beautiful. Rezso has been very helpful. He helped me with size, and the fit is great.

Based on my experience:

• The price list is still correct; shoe trees are not included; they cost an extra 30 euros - WRONG, trees r included
• I believe the VAT is around 20% but I stand to be corrected- WRONG, vat is included in prices (VAT is included in every retail price in EU)
• You can deal with the sale manager, Mr Rezso Kuti
• If they do not have the shoes you want in stock, it takes 4-6 weeks for them to make it.
• It depends whether they have the particular model in the U-last that you want in stock. If not, it will take 4-6 weeks for them to make it
• They ship via FEDEX and it approximately took 3 business days to arrive at my place. Bear in mind that there is a possibility that there will be brokerage fees and also duties charged. 
• Also do bear in mind that they do not accept credit cards so you will have to do a bank transfer. This is where you will have to pay the transfer fees.

Shoe trees are included in the price list? Based on my experience, thats not the case. I was quoted another 30 euros for it. Same thing happened when I was at their store in Budapest that day.

With regards to the VAT, what I meant was the VAT is around 20% (again I may be wrong). I forgot to state that the prices in the list include VAT. Thanks for highlighting that fact

Prior to VAT being deducted, its 485 euros inclusive of shipping.

But bear in mind that charges like bank transfer fees, FEDEX brokerage fees and also duties may push the total price to more then USD 650 in certain countries like the US. So sometimes it makes more sense to use proxies like Tombrone and Kolecho. Plus from what I have heard, they are very experienced when it comes to sizing advise.

It's about time I get a pair of Vass shoes. I'm thinking of a black calf shoe on the U last, model most probably 117. What do you think about this particular model? And just to double check the size: C&J 337 UK10, C&J 236 UK10.5, C&J 348 UK10, Grenson 96 UK10.5 and UK11 would that result in a Vass U 45?

And just to double check the size: C&J 337 UK10, C&J 236 UK10.5, C&J 348 UK10, Grenson 96 UK10.5 and UK11 would that result in a Vass U 45?

or possibly 44.5. I'm a UK9 in the 337 and 348 (i.e. 43) but a 43.5 in U last ( i.e. size up a half) .

IMO the critical measure in the U is the width, which is a bit narrower than most, certainly narrower than those C&J's, which iMO fit large for their number.

I wouldn't worry too much tho. 1. shoes stretch with wear 2. a leather insert will tighten up a fit and give u extra comfort too.

Vass sizing is difficult. So far, for me...

F-last in shell, size 42.5, oxford lacing - 1/4 size too big, never felt right.
F-last in suede, size 42.5, oxford lacing - at least 1/4 size small; almost comically different from the same size and same last in shell.
New Peter (P2) last in shell, size 42, blucher lacing - about as good as I believe it can be.

Other shoes/brands that fit me well...

EG 888 last 9/9.5E
St. Crispin 8.5F UK
Bontoni 42.5/8.5UK
CJ 348 8.5UK (a hair long in the toes, but OK otherwise)
Alden Trubalance 9D (in boots, where heel slip is nil)
Alden Barrie 9D (again, in boots)

I want a Norweger now, probably on the P2 last, and probably not shell. Maybe Russian/Reindeer calf, 360 Goyser, double sole?

Was the problem with your F-last 42.5s in the width or the length?

I'm an 8UK in most Carmina and C&J except for 348, where I can go down to a 7.5 because of the extra length (although I can't close the laces very well).
Do most people agree that would be 41.5 in F last?

So will be buying a Vass double monk in calf.

I want to wear it casually, but with the option to dress up.

I cant decide between oxblood, dark cognac or brown.

Does anyone have an opinion as to which colour would suit the majority of looks...thinking brown but it just sounds boring.

Was also thinking of getting the rubber vibram commando sole..anyone have a pair of vass with this sole?
