why? i'm a UK 9, and I wear a 42.5 in P2 and F, which a exactly on par with a uk5 for 38.5

This thread could use some fresh porn. River II in antique cognac, U last, single soles. I requested dark edge trim, but they arrived with more of a medium brown. I'll probably have a local cobbler darken them.

+1, it's better to err on half size too big, than half size too small.

Hey, just trying to help.  Like I said, I am a small UK6 and wears 38.5 on the F last. Poster is a UK5 so if you insist 38.5 is good, I suppose it is good then.

A UK 9 is exactly a Euro 43.  A UK 5 is almost exactly a Euro 38.

If you're used to very narrow English lasts e.g. G&G, then it might well make the UK sizes seem smaller.  But for lasts of comparable to width, those size conversions should be pretty much bang on.

From C&J 6E, AS 6F, JL 6E, G&G 6.5E, EG 6.5E.

I am getting 39.5 in F, 40 in U.

I wear UK6 in EG888, TG73, AS109, AS48 and CJ337.  TG73 and AS48 is snug and CJ337 is the widest among them.

Here's a shoe size chart that LouisXV uses previously, which I think is quite accurate if you use the EU size to the left of your actual UK size :

For example, a UK6.5 is probably good in 39.5 in F. I am a small UK6 so 39 is too big, 38.5 slightly snug but fits way better due to my low instep.  For UK5, you are looking at a small EU38 or 37.5.  For the guy with UK9, 42.5 is good.  If he sticks to his EU equivalent a large 43, it would have been to big.  Please take note that this is for the F LAST only.  It is well known in this thread that Vass sizing is a bit inconsistent and tends to run to the larger side.  For U, most people can take a half size up but some don't.

For the guy with UK5, although I am confident 37.5 is good fit, go with 38 but at the same time, ask Rezso to include 2 additional insoles per side to adjust the fit.  And whatever you do, do not ask Rezso to convert the UK size to EU for you, it'll definitely be too big.

according to that chart, UK 6 is 39.5, and UK 6.5 is 40...

That's why I said use the next EU size to the left of the UK size.

Superb shoes! About the sole edge color, Vass only offers three alternatives: Black, dark brown and natural sole edge. Yours are dark brown (of course they may differ a bit from pair to pair) so the next step would be black.
