@Moo: F or P2?  What's your size in C&J/JL or EG/G&G?

post #2720 of 20218
F.

C&J I am 8.5, EG 9/9.5, JL 8.5.

Interesting.  Is it size 42 or 42.5?  Vass sizing is so tricky...  ffffuuuu.gif

They are 42. And yes, Vass sizing is... not so pleasant.

Can one email the factory or the Budapest shop directly to purchase? If so can anyone share the appropriate addresses.

I've been lurking on this thread a long time and have decided on my first model.

I've been lurking on this thread a long time and have decided on my first model.

When I e-mail Vass I use this address: info@vass-cipo.hu

I have always had a reply, but sometimes it can take up to a week. If you want to contact them directly, calling is much more appropriate in Hungary so I suggest you call them (I don't know the number though, but I'm sure it is somewhere on their site).

If you inquire about Vass shoes, this is what they told me: Vass shoes cost 440€ including shoe trees and everything (it is the same price for MTO, e.g. shoes in G or H width, other colors etc.), but shipping to the US is very expensive. You are cheaper of by having them shipped to a relative in the US, and have him ship the shoes to the US.

So instead of overpaying for Vass shoes on ebay, where sellers charge waaaaaay too much for so-called 'MTO' shoes, you can just buy them from Vass directly.

Cool. They look great! Do you take the same size in the Budapest last as the U last? I've actually found the Budapest shorter than the F and P2 so may go up a half size in the future.

[

I got those last year in black. Unfortunately, the black stitching and sole doesn't separate visually from the upper the way the brown ones do, so they look quite large even though the actual shoe is rather graceful in a nautical way. (See pix of H12 http://www.artisanboatworks.com/gallery/past-projects/herreshoff-12-frog). I'm expecting that they'll be rather useful to wear into town when the snow comes, however.
