The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...) - Page 1316

Consensus? With Vass sizing?? LOL!!!

But seriously, sorry I have but one pair of Vass shell boots and they don't fit any larger than I expect based on comparable calf shoes in the same size and last, save that I think Vass bakes a tiny bit more room overall into tall boots versus comparable shoes.

Are the wooden lasts Vass uses too old, too beaten up?. Anyone have had the pleasure to visit the lasts room.

If I'm a 40H in an F lasted calf bal boot with flat welt (high instep and wide foot), what size should I be looking at if considering a shell bal boot? Or shell+Goyser bal boot?

Based on what I've read, seems like those attributes would add 0.25-0.5 size in volume, so I'd want a 40G. I'm assuming 40.5G is roughly the same as 40H in volume, so should size down a half.

@Shouldaville

I believe this is the exact boot you had once MTO'd.

In my experience 42.5 eu shoes & boot fits the same regardless of shell or calf so just take your normal size & you should be good to go. I have one whiskey shell boot & bourdoux shell double monk. They all fit the same hope it helps.

Good day, gentlemen.

I'm visiting Budapest on vacation soon and is planning to get a pair or two of Vass shoes.  I'm most interested in their made-to-measure services, since I have peculiar-shaped (wide toes but very narrow heel and very low instep) that can hardly fit well into RTW shoes.  However, after studying this thread for a while, it seems to me that Vass occasionally make shoes without exactly following customers' preferences, which really makes me worried about ordering made-to-measure shoes from them.  I wonder how seriously and how frequently does this problem occur?

I wouldn't worry. While it can happen, they will make it again for you. Mr. Kuti is a pleasure to work with, and very accommodating!

While the pair I ordered were exactly to my spec, I'm sure they will do what it takes to make you happy.

My Chukkas are roomier than my shoes. Both F last.

I just received my very first Vass. A Norweger in dark brown grain leather.
I am very pleased with the quality of the leather and the construction. And a beautiful shoe tree to boot.

Won't be the last.

My F-last chukkas fit exactly the same as my F last shoes.  Hence my chuckle at seeking consensus on Vass sizing.

Excellent choice Urban. Congrats

Finally ready to jump into the Vass pool but would like some sizing advice. I have relatively wide feet, the Alden 9.5D gives a relatively good fit w/ some minimal heel slippage. I'm looking for sizing advice for an F-last boot.

Other shoes I have include:

C&J

RL Marlows in 10D (325 last; a bit loose)

Barneys NY Newbury 10D (335 last; a bit loose)

Coniston (325 last) & rebranded Islays (last 365?) are both 9E

Enzo Bonafe 9UK in both the 946 & 74945 lasts (the 946 fits more snug than the latter, almost a tight fit)

Carmina Detroit 9; way too loose (8.5 was too snug)

Alden: Barrie 9.5D, Aberdeen 9.5E

Thanks in advance!
