That patch is from the factory. No cobbler at all.

Does anyone know if going up in width might increase the instep height? (say, lowest point of instep before toe box)

Or does it only increase ball/toe box width?

Yes, it does.

My feet and Vass just don't get along, my dogs were killing me on the way home! These are F last, same for U, don't even dare try K.

Consider P2.

I wear P2 and can wear a wide F, although that isn't ideal. Similar length, instep, etc. but the P2 is just a bit more relaxed. Much more so than the standard F, I'd imagine.

The side walls of the toe box for F last are high, so the front of the box has volume, but the slope of the vamp as it meets the toe box is not so high; if you have a high instep, this area might be problematic, even in say a G width.

I might actually get away with a 40H for F last and 40.5G for U last. I did try on a 41F for U last and was ok, but toes were tighter than I would've liked.

P2 is very comfortable.

Guys, I may sadly consider letting go off of my gorgeous very rare Made To Order Vass U-Last Shell Cordovan Balmoral Boots in Antique Cognac, Lasted Trees and Boxes. Dainite.
I got them off of my forum guru, but they turned out to be a bit too big for me, so I hardly ever wore them.
Should be 11+ UK.

I would consider a U-Last Chukka in 10.5UK
EG Newmarket in 11/11.5E

Could you send me some pictures of it?

I have F last oxfords and P2 last alt wiens - wear the same size in both but the P2 is definitely more forgiving (fit overall is more relaxed).

I agree with posts above. Should definitely try a P2.

Wearing the suede Theresainer boots (f-last) from Massdrop. These are my first pair of Vass and the fit is exceptional - very comfortable boots; can't wait to purchase more.

Really hope that makes a return or a variation of a Vass boot. Great deal they were

Sadly, Mr. Kuti was interviewed on Reddit and he said it would likely not happen again. He didn't want to say anything further about why.
