The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...) - Page 1267

Quick and dirties of my new drop courtesy of @Shouldaville. Always a pleasure my friend and thank you!

Yup - I'm the new happy owner of his downright awesome oxblood/black grain F last Valways. These are my first Vass and I'm definitely seeing what all the love is about. This definitely will not be my last one. As with most new discoveries on SF, I blame/curse you guys, but not as much as my wallet.

Seriously I love these boots. Wanted something slightly more casual than my Galways, but I didn't want the workbook look either. I think these will look pretty great with trousers or good fitting jeans.

Also, indirect thanks to @TtownMD for just lighting up SF lately and being a disgustingly good enabler.

gonna X post a bit for a little #humbebrag, but I can't help it, I really really dig these guys.

Also a side by side with the EG Galways if that's okay. Thought it would a be nice comparison for those interested (I know I was..)

Awesome @rnguy001. Good to hear they worked for you, and you're hooked! The 43.5 was just a little too large for me. The suede 43 is already one of my favorites, so I'll need to reorder a Valway.

Maiden voyage! Double monk F last burgundy calf. My first pair of Vass and I couldn't be happier. Special thanks to Sammy at Ascot for pulling it all together.

Yes, we have quite a few enablers in this thread.

Modified F-last adelaides in "Bordeaux Radica", as the Vass sales lady put it, plum museum I believe is the official name.

Waited 6 weeks after taking my measurements in the Vass shop in Budapest just to be notified that the leather ripped in the final stage of making the shoes. Waited another four weeks to get my hands on the finalized new pair. And then they were too small... Sent them back to Rezsö who already put in a new order with my own corrected measurements. Almost feel bad for them, they can't be making much of a profit on this pair!

Lovely.

Incidentally, Ilcea call it "Radica", so that is the official name.  "Museum" is John Lobb's branding for it.

recently got my first pair of vass and I hope I can one day get my own last, can the modification only be done in a VASS store?

The reason for me to do a modified last is my feet don't fit very well in the standard sizes/widths. I had some fit problems with my previous U-last shoes so I decided to go to Budapest and have my size thoroughly verified. After trying on some different lasts and sizes the sales staff said they would make a modified last for me. This personal last can then be used for making shoes of any of the Vass last shapes. I have high hopes that it will be perfect and I can start ordering all the models I've created in my mind :-)

I think you either have to go to Budapest or then hope for a Vass trunk show near your home to have your feet measured. Probably also Ascotshoes can do it, not sure about the US retailers.

Vass is doing shell bal boots again? I think I'd stick with calf without the reinforcement. And a new batch of saddle/whiskey?

Yeah, that patch looks a little awkward. Lovely boot otherwise.

I think those are repaired seconds , rather than vass' new way of making shell bals.

(Ascot is their go-to distributor of seconds)
