I agree. I will say 41.5 for you on the F

Well I'm basing my advice on UK 8 in Rain cripples me. 42.5 in F fits very well if maybe a little binding on the little toe.
I think 41.5 is a big gamble but only my opinion

papercut I'm the same shoe size as you. I have F last in 41.5. it is snug, and it is still breaking in after 1.5 years of wear. 42 would be roomier, better to wear with thicker socks in winter. I'm otherwise happy with sizing down by 0.5 as over time the leather will very gradually stretch.

I'm with you.  42 would be my recommendation.

Ooops ! Dear Vass lovers and friends, any good ideas for me? I have not tried anything yet but it looks like the leather is ripped ... :-(

They arrived like this brand new?

@RogerP No not at all; they were beautiful and I must have caught my toe somewhere ... (sad face) ... not sure how to fix that if at all.

If there's a flap ripped in the leather you can stick it down then polish over it. If it's just a nick then polish it and call it patina. These things happen!

Any professional cobbler will make it look like new if you don't want to deal w/ it yourself.

Well, while we are talking about sizing, I have a question for the hive mind here.

I have a pair of F-last Vass in size 41 single wide. Beautiful shoes, but still a bit tight across the ball and toes of the foot.

I'd like to order another pair, but before I do so, wanted to understand how, or if even possible, to adjust the width to get a better fit:
  • Move up to double wide (assuming Vass even makes a double wide F-last)
  • Size up to 41.5 or 42 (not ideal--length currently is just about right)
  • Try a different last

Any thoughts?

Vass will make F last shoes in width H (extra wide). width G is single wide. width F is standard.

I actually believe all their lasts come in D, E, F, G, H. I have H width shoes on the U and P2 lasts.

I think that so true because I have a pair on the narrow E and am having another pair made in an extra narrow D. I don't know if the D is normally available but they are making it for me so it is possible.

Thanks. So, thinking I should try sticking with the 41 F last, and move to an H fitting? Or is the F last just unaccomodating for us fat-footed folks?
