Maiden voyage for these antic cognac shell cordovan bals - so comfortable. The P2 last combined with Vass' soft insole/sockliner = heaven for my feet. For sizing reference, I took these in P2 last size 41, and I wear 41.5 in U, 8 UK in Simpson, 8.5D in most AE lasts, 8D Alden Barrie/Trubalance, 8.5D Alden Aberdeen/Hampton/Grant/Plaza).

I ordered these last August in person in Budapest, and they arrived in October. Haven't gotten around to wearing them yet, but today is the day. Specs are = Model 5200, Antic Cognac Shell Cordovan, P2 last, HAF (double-to-single) sole, rubber toe tap with brass nails.

great choice! i'd love to see a few other shots of them too, like from an angle and one of the sole too!

Has anyone tried to convince Vass to make a modified OEII model like Edward Green's Oriel (not necessarily featuring faux seams)? A wingtip version of the OEII.

Those look lovely !

IME getting vass to copy other makers' unique styles always leaves something/some proportions a bit off (although the materials/construction would be great).

In general, I would agree with you. Vass' OEII is spectacular and I love how a wingtip looks on the U-last. So I'm sure this would be a great match up. It's basically the OEII but with a wingtip instead of a cap toe.

I do not think Vass should modified its wingtip oxfords at all (Alt Wien Budapester F last).

They are just awesome.

love the wingtips.

My pair in saddle shell have darkened considerably in two years of fall/winter wear. But i know what you mean-- after getting over the lovely colors of saddle shell, I am starting to prefer the darker shade for more frequent wear
