despite that and as you say so far i still do not know if sizing is still an issue as i dont know if they were made in E width or not. This could be checked of course before delivery though.

I prefer a rather more dark shoe that is why i asked for th antic cognac. A re-style of the 975 from alden (not that similar, i kniw) that i like a lot and never bought. Maybe it's time now.

tough call man. if youre going for a classic, then get the classic. in the same way an eg galway craving can only be satisfied with the eg galway. i think its obvious what needs to be done here: grab the alden 975 and the whiskey vass wingtips

@cezinho, that's so frustrating! If you were up for a longer wait, I'd say you'll take those at deep discount but you still want what you ordered

I absolutely feel your frustration.  But I think that this pair and your original order are both worth having, given the distinct difference in colour.  Were I in your shoes (not a bad place to be, if you put the frustration aside) I'd do as others have suggested and see if I could get this pair at a significant discount and an undertaking by Vass to fast-track an additional pair with the right colour.

Thanks mate, not sure if in my wardrobe there is a space for two similar styles in shell.
On top I would have to clarify if the fit on this supposedly E width F last shoes are also fitting right.
At this staged I am more leaning towards forgetting about Vass for a while.

lol whats with all this talk of significant discount? should he also be paid damages for emotional distress for feeling a sense of disappointment? if i follow your math, cezinho is owned a free pair of shoes, a remake of a pair, a letter of apology and a statement from mr vass himself from a tall podium, wife next to him a foot to the left and foot back, apologizing for the error in judgement. and a promise to never do it again

Dear Roger
I would rather be in your shoes. smile.gif
There would be for sure not space in my closet for the same shoe in 2 different colours.
What I will do: I will wait for tomorrow morning (if Kuti did not go on holidays yet) and check if these shoes are really (!!) E width and then see what proposal would be done from the counter part.

PS from my limited SF experience I realise that people often go from Alden to other brands like Vass, eg, GG and other .
In my case , after owning these brands ( begin EG my favourite one) I still fell a huge attraction for the classic 975 as a casual shoe.

I'm looking to purchase another Vass in the F last and need ideas. Color should be brown or burgundy and suitable to be worn in business casual. Not looking for shell or double monks (I have enough of those).

oh lordy spending too much time on this forum. read this title as "suede over old debt". "sued over old debt" makes a lot more sense

Man, you're a snarky fecker this weather! I'm not saying that at all, I'm saying he takes the (second)wrong order at discount and waits for the pair he's paid, I assume, full price for.
No-one's getting a free pair of shoes!

It may be worth trying out Enzo Bonafé for a longwing, as it will certainly be easier to get one in the shell color of your choice than from Alden. My black shell longwings on the 363MOD last came out stunning:

I much prefer them to my Alden longwings on the Barrie last.  Plus they have a norvegese welt which Alden doesn't do.
