I don't like asking these sorts of questions but...I wear a size 8UK in the Carmina Simpson and Rain lasts, any thoughts on the best comparable size in the Vass F last? I appreciate any thoughts and understand that e-sizing is a hit and miss game.

Most likely a 42. I find the the Carmina lasts you mention to run generously and the F last last, less so.

Wow - you take the same size in such different lasts? I wear an 8.5 Carmina Rain but can't even get my foot into a Simpson. F is neither as wide as Rain nor as narrow as Simpson, if that helps at all. I wear a 43 in standard width Vass F. In a wide fitting, I'd wear 42.5.

aportnoy/RogerP - thank you gentlemen, much appreciated.

RogerP - I might have odd feet. I will say that different styles of Rain fit me a bit different, but oxfords in both lasts fit me nicely. Thanks again.

Good news for Scandinavia :) Went to have a look at the Vass store in Budapest and finally saw the much anticipated Dainite soles. Dainite available for every shoe they offer.

I also wear 8 in Rain. Wear 41F in Vass F-last which is sligthly tight but good lenghtwise. In U-last I wear 41G. Both F and U have higher insteps than Rain.

Wow. That looks very nice. Is it lightweight? And it looks from several of the photos as if the two main pockets are entirely separate. Is that the case? It doesn't fold down to open in a butterfly shape, does it? Assume not (or you would have shown a photo ;-) )but the design makes it look as if it might.

Enjoy!
The two main pockets are entirely separate. It does not fold down to open in a butterfly shape, if I understand you right

. The pocket between the zipper-closable pockets is closed by buttons.

Looks very nice!!! May I know what its weight is? Thanks!!
Dunno the weight. Don't own a scale. It is quite light weight though.

That is bad for the budget...I thought I was only going to be able to order dress boots from them...

Hi Swede, can you elaborate on how high is the F last instep in comparison with Rain? Also, if you have EG, G&G or AS, can you comment on that too? I have a F last which is too high for me and EG, G&G and AS are a good fit. Would a good fit on an EG do ok with Rain assuming I have a very low instep? I am doing a MTO on a shoe very similar to Rain last so any help would be appreciated.

I have "highish" insteps, still F and U are higher. I do not have any closed lacing on Rain, but a dub monk and two chukkas, i.e. open lacing. The monks fit well, though sligthly tight over the instep. The chukkas are due to open lacing more accomodating and fit overall well.

Swede, when you say "highish", you mean higher than normal? So, for you, F or U is better fit than Rain?

Yeah, sligthly higher than "normal".
Since I have only closed lacings in Vass and no closed lacings in Rain I can't give an exact comparison, but no, Vass does not fit better since they have very high insteps.
