The Vass is slightly more reddish with a little deeper depth of color, IMO.
that vass is so pure. it makes me feel like 2008 on SF.

I wonder...

I'm not affiliated with Vass or Massdrop, so this is pure speculation. According to the most recent price sheet, if these boots were ready-to-wear from the shop, they'd be 155,000 HUF ~ 560 EUR including 27% Hungarian VAT. Including shoe trees, that's 590 EUR with VAT. Excluding VAT and converting to USD at market rate, that's about 512 USD.

They'd cost more if they were MTO, but with 20 committed orders, eh, 495 USD doesn't seem that suspiciously low...

Massdrop is obviously not taking the typical retailer cut. Pricing has been discussed many times before. I have no problem with a retailer's markup to handle all of the issues, costs, etc. to stock a full line of shoes. Sale prices usually aren't that far off, and we do get some unique designs. I wish there were more retailers (won't be with deals like this), but Vass must be doing well with its current policies.

Comparing to the RTW price sheet, $495 doesn't seem that low, but you're lucky to find a boot stocked in your size in the Vass shop. There is almost always the MTO and shipping charge/potential customs to add.

Crazy how different the same pair of shoes can look depending on the lighting. That brogue wing by the laces is a nice touch, didn't know that was an option cool.gif

Cheers. And you are so right about different lighting.

If you missed out on the Massdrop order but still need some suede in your life...
