The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...) - Page 1176

post #17626 of 20253
I visited Budapest on my birthday weekend 7th/8th November and of course paid a visit to the Haris köz 6 store. I had a remote hope that I'd find something RTW to purchase, but there was a limited selection in my size, and none that interested me sufficiently on the day. Still it was a very enjoyable visit and I took the opportunity to try on the P2 last for the first time. Some pics:

Three shell cordovan derbies side-by-side. Rezsö informed me that the two on the left are Horween shell while the right-hand F last Budapest derby is a Whiskey shell from an Argentinian tannery, the first ever pair they've made from this shell. My pictures really don't do this shoe justice, it almost glowed.

I'm ordering this style in F last since the P2 really doesn't work for me. The colour will depend on shell availability, I just need to get back to Rezsö since they were expecting an incoming cordovan shipment just after I left Budapest.

The same style in a combination of three shell colours - cigar, saddle and whiskey (I think). These were in my size but I resisted as I prefer the pair above in a uniform shell colour all over.

Thanks for sharing, hope you enjoyed your time in Budapest.  Interesting on the Argentine shell, will be curious to see how that develops.

Welcome and congrats on your gold museum oxfords! I think I may have an almost identical pair, also on the F last.

Hmm, interesting. I haven't heard the best things about Meermin shell. Vass really can't source leather from Horween? Are the big boys like Alden, AE, CJ swallowing it all up? Or maybe they're just tired of not being able to get as much as they need.

So where do they source there shell from?
post #17633 of 20253
Vass gets shell from Horween. I guess they're supplementing it a bit for the less-available colors.

Vass has had amazing customer service every time I've dealt with them. And you newer guys are lucky, because goddamn when it was wire transfers only, sucked.

@Fred G. Unn

The Osloer split toe...is that calf with Italian polish? Or shell?

What model is the Vass med brown Oxford? Which last?

Cheers! Always loved Vass suede. So rich.
