Thanks. It's hard to tell from the angle of the picture but it's actually the F last.

Speaking of chukkas, any day now turned out to be today. :slayer:  Green Museum on the F last from @jokb . Easily one of the more difficult shades I have ever attempted to capture.  Lighting wasn't the best - I'll try again - but they are quite lovely in person.

Will there be any issues at customs importing this pair?

None for hippo leather to Australia.

@ghosty06

Is that brass hardware in your boots? I've been asking about that forever. Looks really nice

Since when did vass start offering this leather? Pretty certain its recent as I trust id have ordered it. Can't recall seeing as one of their leather option. In any case Your pair came out perfectly, perfect design. Also What color is that?

Would you please post more pics when they arrive? And give your opinion how leather feels to the touch and comment on it thickness? Thanks

Apparently, I got a lucky as this hide was old stock.  A few buddies of mine on reddit are getting in on the next batch of hippo leather that Rezso is ordering.   I believe it's coming in January.   The color is grey with brown undertones.

Yes, I actually asked for gunmetal / blind eyelets and for a rounded heel counter but in typical fashion, the vass guys went ahead and did what they wanted.   But I'm not fussy, as they're just small details in the grand scheme of things.

I asked Rezso and he mentioned the thickness of the hide is a bout 1.5 – 1.7 mm and Vass doesn't apply any finishing as it's a bit like nubuck.  And from what I've read, elephant is a bit thicker than hippo. If you're interested in that hide, EB is able to source a few different colors and some other guys (and maybe myself) may be doing a gmto on that one.

I'm pretty much going to be looking for all the hard to procure leathers in 2016 and have a few planned already.   I've been meaning to ask you, aside from G&G, are you aware of anyone else who works with Mountain Ram or Shrunken Goat?

Boots should be coming in next week and will most def be doing a review on it.

F Last and thanks especially coming from you, but the Vass guys have always been outstanding for me.

Ha! I love the little changes that Vass makes. No one makes "wrong" end up looking so good. In this case I think it worked in your favor. I've looked into EB, and I
Like the elephant grain but this hippo in this color, on this boot, in the specs you ordered, to the changes Vass made is hands down outstanding!!!! Bravo!
