I did indeed mean toe caps. All points taken, but Rezso always gives me an amazing deal and the F last itself has been customised slightly for my right foot (fatter pinky ha) so I cannot complain too much. A bit annoying, but the shoes look and feel lovely.

Are your loafers double, single, or HAF soles? When I placed my orders at the Vass Shop, Eva informed me that metal taps are only for double and HAF soles.

Double sole tapering to single. Was just a minor error.

That is new then.  I have single leather soles with metal taps.

Yeah, maybe is that, but the single sole Vass uses is thicker than most others.

As long as you are happy with your new shoes,  that's all that really matters....I often buy at "last pair" sales and have no choice...but anything I do order...or get re-soled...gets toe taps....the difference in wear (for my location) is amazing...

I'm with you justonemore, almost all my leather soled shoes have toe taps.

I'm an ex-Chicagoan living in Switzerland...."hills", cobblestones, and shoes don't mix well compared to the flat concrete of Chicago....but...to our advantage (shoewise) we don't use much salt for the sidewalks...That's not to say that falling on my a*s is any more pleasant than salt stains on shoes....I used to think taking a hit to the body was better than ruining a pair of shoes/a suit/etc....but nowadays...I have to admit that I'd rather the clothes take a hit versus me...I can easily replace that $2'000 suit...avoiding.2 months of soreness and bruises is priceless...lol

My incoming oxblood monks have a single sole and were originally fitted with metal taps (did not request).

@RogerP

I'm in love with those bals, man. Fantastic choices. How did you size F relative to say Carmina Rain or any EB you have?

I'm...
GG MH71—7F
EB 946—7G or 7.5F
EG 82—7.5E
Rain—7EEE (extra wide)
Oscar—7

High instep, wide foot, just like you.

Thanks Sacafotos, I'd say the fit of my 43f Vass is a touch more snug overall than my Carmina Rain UK 9 bal boots were, and roughly on par with my UK 8.5 Bonafe 363Mod boots.

I tend to straddle sizes - kind of a US 9 3/4, D.5 if such a thing existed.

Gotta love fedex. Got my shipping notice yesterday morning. Immediately log into fedex.com and request delivery to a FedEx store instead of my house, as I know I'm gonna be at work. Even get an unsolicited callback from fedex customer service confirming that they will deliver it to the store instead of my home. All good? Nope! Fedex attempts to deliver to my home anyway. Redelivery atyrmpt tomorrow am, when I'll be working again.

Gotta love fedex. How much did I pay for shipping again? Lol.
