Tärnsjö's leathers are really cool, and develop a great patina pretty fast.
Me and the moderators of the forum on my blog made the specs together with Vass. It will be sold at an event I'm hosting in Stockholm this Saturday, a "super trunk" with Vass, Meermin, Carlos Santos, Riccrdo Bestetti and Maftei, plus Gaziano & Girling bespoke, Italigente, Melker Shoes, Tony Slinger and more. They've made like 10-12 pairs, and those that are left after the event will be sold afterwards, and they have some leather left they can do stuff with.

The boots look fantastic, even better that they're made from the Tarnsjo leather SkoaB has been using of late. Seems a match made in heaven.
I'm a 100% certain though that they will be completely sold out if only 10-12 pairs were made.

Hopefully there is another run some time in the future.

Same tannery, different leather.

Thanks a lot, glad you like them!

Lets try to put some light with regards fitting here, base IME!!.

Last F: True to size (I never knew what the heck this expression means:satisfied:, but it seems helpful for many members) or good fit for me.

Last 3636:

a) To wear with thin shocks I would go up  0,25/0,5  size.

b) To wear with thick shocks I would go up 0,5/0,75 size.

Last P2.

a) To wear with thin shocks I would go down 0,25 size.

b) To wear with thick shocks same size as F last.

All my shoes are stamped 42- (or 42.5).

I do not know what happened to my 3636 Alt Wien shell 270 Goyser but they are too short and  It is harder to insert my lasted trees in 42 size compare to my other shoes(no half sizes trees).  I have done a ton of work streching those at the cap toe area (I myself and 2 cobblers!!) with no significant results at all (yes, they are shell and Goyser).  Toe caps are almost impossible to strech even with a leather stiffener unless you ruin the shoe (you must be very carefull and it takes time). So this shoe it pinches my little toes a bit  while flexing, and all my toes almost reach the tip of the toe cap (thanks they have tall walls).  I have not been wearing them too much, so I hope once the insole gets compacted with wear, they will improve just a bit.  There is nothing you can do to strech the lenght of the shoe.

3636/F/P2

3636/P2

3636/F

3636(some pads added in the little toe area)/F lasted trees

Hope this helps.

PS.-Thanks to Ozzy for advising me with Vass sizes long ago, but unless you walk with them on....

Glad I got mine before they discontinued them. I like the way they look. :)

I think Jesper is onto something here . It took me three months to get mine.

Thanks for the input Sir. I have to say based on my experiences with F, P2 and now 3636 I agree 100% with your conclusions. As my P2 fit me perfectly in a 44 it would therefore seem from your guidelines that in 3636 I would need 0.75 -1 size bigger and go with a 45. This is exactly how it feels when I have tried them now, about 1 size too small in a 44.

So, do I get a Valway and a double monk in calf or a pair of Valways in deep cognac or cigar cordovan? I like the idea of shell, but the price difference is significant.

Go for the boot and the monk!

What does a shell tall boot MTO run these days?

I think you should get what you really want and I can't tell you what that is, but I will say that if the only thing you like about shell is the "idea" of it, it likely is not worth the premium to you.

I saw a few interesting comments about Vass in the 2-part Claymoor's List interview with Australian last maker Bruce Millar. It looks like there is at least another part to the interview yet to be posted too.

What is your favourite model?

My favourite model is the Vass black captoe oxford on the P2 last. It is a solid and beautiful handmade captoe that is grand and tells me how my ultimate dream has come true by having such a shoe on my foot. It is complete satisfaction that words could never describe. Every time l wear it l feel the luckiest man alive, it is the ultimate experience.

But the one you prefer the least?

A boring black Grenson oxford with really weird stitching. Only worn it once in the last 11 years. Out of shoes l don’t own, the shoes l can’t stand are the two tone `galway’ style boots by Edward Green, Vass and Gaziano & Girling in suede and conventional calf. They are very popular at Style Forum. [LOL at this!!!]

Best value/price ratio brands?

Many of the Central Europe brands that are hand welted and use good leathers such as Dinkelacker, Vass, Buday etc.
