Sorry if I missed the post, but Vass seems to have discontinued the sale of a 3 piece shoe tree. Wanted to order them for a new pair, and was informed by Kuti they are not satisfied with the supplier and have suspended them !?

This is correct. I wanted to order some as well but they have suspended the 3 piece shoe trees. No word yet if they will be doing this again.

That is a shame but at the same time good on them for having a minimum standard of quality.

^^^ Yeah that's a shame. I assume that the problem hasn't been on the product, but on the delivery. They've had big problems with delays and often had to wait very long for them to receive the trees, which goes out over them and the customers.

Yeah, I had to wait around 3 month for them. It is a pity indeed.

I asked for them on my most recent order and was told they weren't available as well. I find the standard trees a little tight getting out of a tall boot, so I was hoping to get a pair in the boot that I just recently placed an order for. I have one pair of P2 3-piece trees (from NMWA), so I've been keeping them in the boots and using the standard P2 trees in my NMWA Alt Wiens.

damn shame on the trees but i can echo the sentiment of delayed delivery. i placed my valway order beginning of last year? received all 3 boots by beginning of summer 2014. 3 piece trees arrived a year later and in fact i completely forgot i had even ordered them

on a related note, my f last shoe fit tts whereas boots fit about 1/4 bigger. so the 3 piece trees fit the boots well but are too big for the shoes. which turned out alright because the spring lasted shoe trees fit the shoes well

Sorry Webbo to answer you so late.  I would add to Ozzy words that P2 is generous in volume overall and that 3636 is kind of a wide and short last.

Sadly I have just found out for myself. I assumed the 3636 would fit me like the P2 but having arrived today I see its at least 1 size shorter (maybe 1.5) Below is a comparison with C&J, the 3636 and the P2, all in a 44. Absolutely gutted.

  Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

That doesn't look right!

Maybe affects bigger sizes more but my 3636 is at least as long as my P2 in the same size

I know I cannot understand it either. This 3636 is a smaller shoe all round than my P2, the waist is also much narrower. Both are in shell, the 3636 has trees that state 44 and they seem to fit ok. It's a smaller shoe than any other 44 I own from any of the main names.

do they all have the same welt (i.e. 270 or 360 degree)? The C&J's are surely 360-degree welted.

Very weird!

I'll double check mine tomorrow; I've 2 3636 boots in 42.5 and an Alt Wien in 42; I'll compare them with my 42.5 P2 boots (which I suspect may actually be size 42) FWIW the 42 3636 Alt Wiens are about my best fitting shoes needing virtually no break in whereas the 42.5 P2, while comfortable, are definitely more confining in the toebox.

Vass sizing continues to be a total crap shoot!

Yes the C&J are 360 while both a Vass are 270.
