The Ultimate Vass (Footwear) Thread (Pictures, reviews, sizing, etc...) - Page 992

Well, Vass IS located in a European city, but rather than waiting for the fall you could try No Man Walks Alone - free US shipping, free returns.

Yes, and with the current NMWA EURO20 sale, Vass at $600 is very tempting...especially if you aren't 100% sure on sizing. If you're another 43/43.5, you probably should wait until fall though :embar:.

Ive been tempted by NMWA but I need to hold off. I have 2 MTO Vass coming in shortly so I cant overspend.

Grrrrrrrrr

I emailed them last summer, and they told me they no longer do Vass MTO. Don't know if that has changed.

^that's a shame. I am thinking about a plain toe derby in black calf, so would have to go MTO. I'd feel bad ordering and returning from NMWA since I don't have an intention to buy the RTW models available.

3636 is little shorter lenght wise (although I use same size than F).  Wider at the ball (and more flat over it), round shapes and a higher toe box (more spacious). Instep about the same. Most comfortable to wear IME. It is a traditional Austro-Hungarian last that fits perfect for a sturdy casual shoe (even better with shell and/or Goyser stiching) IMO. Best gun boat shoes!!

I am in NYC and will soon be in need of having my VASS F Last soles replaced. Any recommendations? Does Vass do a full rehab/recrafting service? Do I have to fly to Budapest to do that?

Very quick n00b question:

Do any of you feel that some of the captoe models have a stubby toe cap like those on the PA/5th Ave from AE?

I have since begun buying Carmina shoes because I began to detest the small toe cap that come on many AE shoes. I want to venture into VASS as I have very hard-to-fit feet. Looking at some of the shoes on the first page, the toe caps seem unusually short for such long and elegant shoes. I think what I'm specifically referring to is the length of the toe cap in relation to the length of the vamp:

The cap toe oxford in the pic linked above is an example of what I mean. It has 6 eyelets though, and may be the culprit?

This black one on the other hand has very aesthetically pleasing proportions:

Even this wingtip has a vamp that looks very long relative to the "wing-section"

Please let me know if you find this to be true and why it is made that way.

If I visit him to buy the custom versions, can I simply request that he made the toe-section longer?
