Just thought I'd share some shine pics of my navy austerity brogues.  @jokb did the shine job and took the pics.

Wow!

Super shine job. Looks very new!

I find that the regular calf shines better than the museum...or most likely my skills are just not there...

Zimmermann & Kim use UK sizing for Vass. What would a 10UK be in Vass euro sizing? Anybody know. I sent them an email but I don't expect an answer for a few days.

Pretty sure it's 44

Would you guys recommend F last for an austerity brogue or do you think it will be too bland and I should try U or K?

My personal impression is that F is very nice for conservative designs, i.e. cap toe oxfords and such (sadly, the toe cap creasing issue discussed above makes me hesitant to order a pair), but I wonder if austerity brogues look better with chiseled toes.

I wouldn't say the F last would look bland, but I think it would look edgier / sleeker on the U or K. I tend to prefer F for captoes.

Yeah, same gut feeling here. Oh, well, I'll be in Budapest soon and will get an idea of how U or K fit.

Then again, Enzo Bonafe austerity brogues are a nice alternative - generous like Rain and still have chiseled toes.

Agree regarding U/K looking a bit sleeker. However, F on an austerity brogue still looks lovely. U just doesn't quite work for me, sadly. Even sizing up .5 doesn't help a great deal and makes it a little long for me at the end. F however fits me very well indeed.

Anyone with any real world experience of the S last yet?

Yes, its the one on the far right. The order from the left is Vass K (42), Carmina Simpson (8 UK), Vass U (42), G&G MH71 (8.5) and Vass S (42).

It's the longest of the lot albeit just slightly longer than the other Vass but noticeably longer than the G&G. Slightly lower instep than the other Vass so a get a small V which I didnt get on the U. It has a less wider vamp vs the U which I actually like as I have thin feet and overall I find the fit better than the U. The room in the toebox is more than U but some rubbing of my pinky toe (something which never happens in the G&G).

I am undecided on the looks so far. My initial reaction was that the toe box seems a little elongated but the shoe is growing on me. I like the looks of the U last more at this point but with the more comfortable fit of the S last, I would say its not off the table for future purchases.

@OzzyJones Staffer S input.

That's disappointing. So u k s are all kind of similar? I would have loved a slightly more generous u last with a softer square toe

I found this kind of interesting, how the same shoes can look very different depending on the photos

These caught my eye on the Zimmermann & Kim site

I searched for them on the Vass site and got this photo

These look quite a bit different, do you agree?

I much prefer the first photo.

Still mulling it over :puzzled:
