Thanks. Meant to thumb your Valway post, but it's way back there in the thread now with all the conversation. smile.gif

It's a beauty makeup. Glad to hear your foray into the R last is a positive one so far. I think it's a really nice shape from Vass.

True. I have a pair of funky Carmina boots in cognac shell and pebble grain. Nice change of pace from the usual.

smashing success!!!! thanks for all the help with sizing questions and advice; it was spot on! Now i really dont know if i want another P2 last or F... kind want their baby - R

regarding suede, someone earlier in the thread asked about what I thought of it. the grain on my pair is definitely not as fine as my Carmina or EG suede. its a little courser and the nap resembles something you'd see from EG after about a dozen wears or so and a brush. but its soft and im really enjoying the color ("brown red". pretty unique from other suedes ive seen

I can't believe you single handedly shut down their cordovan MTO orders. I was in the middle of placing my order when Kuti said "No más!"

SF should just crowd fund its own tannery!

lol id like to take credit myself but their isnt enough shell for me even; Vass has taken 4 months to fulfill a recent order for 3 shell boots (so far only this valway has been delivered). i will however take credit for the mto requests Vass receives that include photos of my boots and the message: "i want this exact makeup". According to Mr. Kuti, a handful of mto's were requested of the ucap and valway. and i ordered those in part because I was inspired by makeups by other members and users

Six Degrees of NAMOR/Stevent shoe rotation.

I wanted a similar Valway. I hope they start taking orders next year. Although, I'm more impressed with calf these days.

Correct as usual.  I think I grabbed the very last pair - but they weren't your size anyway so I don't get to rub it in. :)

I'll take some updated pics in the spring when I haul these out again - I wear them as a warm weather boot.

@NAMOR: That Valway makeup on the R last is stunning!  If i can figure out my fit (above average width) on that last, I'll give it a stab in a calf variation.

I'm hoping to get into the world of Vass boots and decided to go the route of a proxy since I live in the U.S. Does anyone in here have any experiences working with Notch?  Happy to talk by PM as well if that's more appropriate.  I'm curious because the email communication with him over the last week has been moving at a snails' pace (i.e. one response in eight days).

Tom (notch) was great to work with when I ordered my pair with him about 1.5 years ago. However, he mentioned some changes happening since he was doing such a high volume (i.e. having to register for VAT reductions when shipping out of the EU). So not sure the process right now, but I'd shoot him a pm and ask. I wouldn't hesitate to go through him again if I needed to, although I would try to give business to NMWA since they werent around when I ordered my first pair

And RE: some delay in communication by Tom, I wouldn't read too much into it, i think he's just a busy guy.

+1

He's great to deal with, just don't expect instant reply to e-mail. I think I read he's in the process of setting up a web-shop

Thanks for the reassurances re: Tom/Notch.  I'm hoping to develop a relationship with either a Vass proxy or retailer (e.g. NMWA) for the long term and didn't want to invest time into something that would be tedious.  I'll be patient and see how this plays out for my first pair.

I could probably find this if I searched hard, but what's the process to purchase a Vass MTO?  Don't own a pair yet, but strongly considering it.

Depends where you're located. If you're in the US; either thru a retailer like NWMA or by proxy.

If you're elsewhere you can order direct be e-mailing Vass
