Is this solely a problem with Vass ? When one takes size recommendations on the web, don't understand their own feet, last and go ahead with the concept of one size fits all the same this will invariably occur. Added to the fact when you deviate from the standard and start adding all the funky modifications the problem gets further compounded.

...Comparing

3636 Vs P2 last in "my order", both in 42.5 size.

3636 certainly looks like a wider fit.  Which doesn't surprise me based upon pics I have seen in the past.

The 3636 last was extremely wide (360 goyser) and P2 last was wide enough. For me this is hell of a lot of difference in the same size as you can see.

I reached and agreement with Mr. Kuti and I order again the 3636 last (narrow),   canceled the P2 last (I will try it with a boot in the future) and I ordered 2 pairs of Oxfords in F last (narrow).  I will see what it comes out of it. I hope F last in 42.5 narrow will fit me, but still crossing my fingers.:rimshot:

There is a significant difference in fit, because there is a significant difference in the lasts.  There is a heck of a lot of difference between Carmina Simpson and Soller as well.  The whole point of having different lasts is to accommodate significantly different foot shapes and dimensions in a given length.   If you start with the assumption that all lasts in a given size will fit nearly the same, you are setting yourself up for perpetual disappointment.

There are some lasts from a given maker that fit me perfectly in a particular size, yet for a different in the same size I can't even get my foot inside the shoe  (see the Carmina reference above).  Do your homework and learn which lasts work for you best in what size, and which lasts simply don't work for you at all in any size.

It seems best to me to start with one last, find your size in that, and then work with Mr. Kuti, a retailer, or the members here to figure out what your size may be in the other lasts. It may well be the same, or you may find that you need a different fitting (I seem to wear the same size in all the Vass lasts I've tried, though they all do indeed fit differently).

Yes RogerP, you are right (have 3 different last of Carmina/ 3 different last of C&J...), but what it amaze me most is that the width difference just at the heel box between 3636 and P2 was crazy. Lenght was perfect in both lasts. Anyway, I believe that the manufacture of my order was a chaos.

I suddenly have the urge to call Mr. Kuti to order another adelaide (as if I don't have enough of them) but this time in green museum calf. I don't know for the life of me, what I'm going to use it for, or how green will match the rest of the attire...but I've never had any experience with green shoes yet, and I have a feeling that unless I've tried it, this curiosity will never go away...

And not sure why but it almost feels like cheating on your missus...???!!!

Which is why some buyers prefer one to the other.

Does Vass only offer one type of goyser welt?

I really like the one offered by enzo bonafe below.

The Bonafe boot is not a Goyser welt (with the welt strip stitched on the outside) but is in Norwegian construction (with the upper folded to the outside, forming a "welt"). As far as I know, Vass will not do Norwegian.

But to be absolutely certain, you should ask Vass what they will, or will not do.

^^^ Thanks for explaining the distinction.
