FWIW I think this says it's French calf leather "as thick as shell cordovan".  But I did German at school over 25 years ago and can't remember much, so I could be wrong!

Certainly looks like it, and I think he's saying in the listing "it is the colour of cordovan, and so thick if I wasn't told it was calf, I would think it was cordovan".  Something like that.  Maybe if it looks and feels like cordovan...

Thanks. Unfortunately, almost all of Ascot's images are what I would call "bad", since they are always taken at angles and distances that distorts the proportions of the shoe.
